About Katranji & Nemeth Periodontics and Dental Implants
Katranji & Nemeth Periodontics and Dental Implants is a dental practice on Telegraph Road in Southfield, Michigan. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. 2 pain free oral surgeries. Extremely professional. Staff could not be nicer. I am very nervous about needles, the person who put my IV in was great! No pain.
Been a long time patient. The office is clean. The staff is friendly, free coffee and water. No long wait times
I didn’t meet Dr. Katranji during my first visit. However, what I heard is that he is a fine dentist. All of the people I have met at the office are extremely nice!
Colleen was my hygientist and she did an excellent job of scaling, cleaning, and caring for my teeth. I always leave feeling very pleased with the professionalism and service I received from the staff. Thank you All !!!
I had to wait a few years to afford my implants. I was a bit timid, but as usual these professionals went above and beyond to set my mind at ease. They answered all of my questions and concerns before starting. Beyond that, they were exceptionally gracious with my daughter waiting for me. This gal Jessi is the Greatest!! Hands down. Fun, confident and honest , letting me know what I may or may not anticipate after surgery. No surprises! From the kind ancillary staff, to the hygienists ( Cheryl is mine-Love her), Dr Nemeth and now my new favorite Dr. Katranji...no regrets to commute from the West side of the State, 90 minutes , to have their professional care. Outstanding professional care every time.
Professional and caring. My husband and I Truly appreciate the excellent care. I wish that I could give them a 10 🌟 Star.
My Highest Recommendation for this Dr and staff; far exceeded all my expectations and I received excellent care; Dr. Katranji put in my implant 9 years ago and when I fell in May he was the first call I made; he squeezed me in the very same day. The procedure was smooth as silk.
Review for LANAP, pre, post and 6+mo after: I had loose bottom front teeth, could hardly bite food without excruciating pain. My dentist recommended I come here. The consultantation was a bit over done with all the diseases and problems that gum disease could lead to and left me feeling panicked. The precleaning was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I gripped the chair so hard the entire time I thought I was gonna rip the arms off. No gas, hardly numb. Just blinding pain for a couple hours. The laser surgery followed. Medicine to calm, gas, procedure. I walked out floating on a cloud. Was fine the next day as well.. Then it hit me. Nausea, inability to eat swallowable, spoon fed food. Lost close to 30lb (215lb down to 188lb) post surgery in the 2 weeks. Once I could eat again things were great. You obviously came here for poor tooth hygiene so many follow ups post surgery will happen. Follow ups were light cleaning and making sure you're brushing and flossing correctly. All said and done close to 13k give or take. Definitely expensive. But I have my teeth, my gums are pink and healthy and I've learned to take care of my mouth 10x better than I had been. Edit* After one year my splint was coming off my teeth. For $1000 I expected better work. When I called to make an appointment (twice over 2 months) they seemed to "backed up" to be concerned with my post one year visit or fixing their work.
I had an implant that got infected and had never heard of Dr. Katranji but I’m so glad that I found him And he took great care of me. He was able to take care of this implant without any pain by using an IV anesthesia. I did not feel any pain whatsoever. I woke up. I felt great. The implant was gone and I went home. I didn’t have any pain whatsoever. I couldn’t believe it. It was like a miracle. I don’t think anyone else could’ve done what he did and I will definitely go back to him if I have any problems with my other three implants, I recommend them highly all of them at the office.
Not only is it a very professional environment, but the care and kindness is superb. The staff was able to put me at ease about the procedure. I was treated with kid gloves. Also, I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers at my front door the day after surgery to cheer me up. Very unexpected, but I certainly appreciated it. I thought they were from my husband until I opened the card. 😊
