I was referred here from someone so was excited to finally find a good dentist in Reading that was supposedly tolerant of neurodivergent patients. Unfortunately communication has been quite poor. I initially reached out over email to ask for an appointment because I really don't like making phone calls. Someone had written back from reception and we were exchanging emails. I stopped hearing back suddenly. Two months later I decided to call. The receptionist was a bit hostile and sternly told me it's not possible to book a hygienist. What she really meant was that I just needed a dentist appointment first. That's fine but the way the information was presented was unnecessarily hostile. I'm American and find that sometimes British people are automatically hostile to me when they hear my accent, and that seemed to be the case here. If a patient wants a hygienist appointment the appropriate response would be, "Ok we have hygienist appointments available but first you'll just need to have a dentist appointment." She proceeded to offer a dentist + hygienist appointment. So I'm thinking, ok so I can book a hygienist appointment after all. The practice requires paying for the doctor appointment upfront and 50% of the hygienist appointment. From a security standpoint I don't like to do this. Throughout the call the receptionist kept coughing. It was obvious she was very sick, I find this unacceptable that a medical office wouldn't send a sick employee home. People are still dying of COVID and immunocompromised people deserve safe access to a dentist. After 4 different red flags with this practice, I decided to go elsewhere. All the signs were pointing to them not wanting my business.
After lots and lots and lots of research and some great communication (over email and on the phone) we took the plunge and travelled two and a half hours (twice) to see Kiran Shankla for Icon treatment for my 12-year-old daughter, and it was absolutely worth every mile. From the moment we arrived at the practice, Kiran was kind, patient, and incredibly gentle. She spoke to my daughter in such a reassuring way that it immediately put both of us at ease. Her professionalism and expertise are clear, but what really stood out was her warm and caring approach - nothing was too much trouble. My daughter felt comfortable and confident throughout her treatment, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she received and the overall results of her teeth. Kiran, you are honestly MAGIC. The staff, from the reception team, to the dental nurses to Kiran herself are amazing! Yes it was expensive, but it was worth every penny... AND that long journey was more than worthwhile to ensure my daughter received the best possible treatment.
Kendrick View Dental Practice is located on London Road in Reading. I’ve been coming here for some years. The staff/team are: excellent. I’ve seen 3 different dentists, a root canal specialist and a hygienist. And of course the team on reception. Booking is a pleasure. You will be kept updated and phoned to find out where you are if you are late. Quite cool in a busy modern day. This is private dental work. It is expensive. Get dental insurance. Still costly. But my teeth were always bad (genetics and medication). I have spent a lot of money on my teeth. People comment on my teeth, very nice comments. It’s an investment. These guys are seriously good. You will have to choose which dentist/practitioner to book with. I know who I would recommend but unfair to do here on a public review and unfounded as I have not had them all work on my teeth. I had a lot of work done on my teeth by the NHS. Some very good work. Some not so good. I got that fixed here. Totally recommend Kendrick View. I hope you will too.
Staff are always really friendly and kind here, from the lovely reception to the dental staff. I am a very nervous patient, but they take things at a slow pace. Dr. Kiran has lots of new gadgets & tech, and is really gentle when she's working, and her dental nurse is really calming and kind. My hygienist Misha is also lovely. I still get scared, but I do feel like I can actually go regularly as I know they're always kind, and I have been a patient here now for around 18 years I think so wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Had my Invisalign treatment with Dr Kiran Shankla and was very happy with it. She and her team made a really good job. It was fast, efficient and good aftercare was provided when needed. I really recommend!
