About Kids Dental Avenue

Kids Dental Avenue provides dental care on Santa Monica Boulevard in the East Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Frequently Asked Questions

What does a paediatric dentist do differently?
They complete additional training focused on children — how teeth develop, how to manage anxiety and behaviour in the chair, and conditions specific to young patients. The practical difference is usually as much about handling the visit as the treatment itself.
How do I stop my child getting cavities?
Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, supervising until they have the dexterity to do it properly, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear during the day. Frequency of sugar matters more than the total amount.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

We’ve had the absolute best experience with our pediatric dentist! He has been caring for my son since he was just 4 years old, and now both my son and daughter go to him—and we couldn’t be happier. From the very beginning, he has shown incredible patience, kindness, and professionalism. He knows exactly how to make kids feel comfortable and at ease, which made such a difference, especially when they were younger. Every visit feels welcoming, calm, and positive. His work is consistently excellent, and he always takes the time to explain everything clearly. You can truly tell he cares about his patients and their families. What truly makes this office stand out is the amazing team around him. The nurses and assistants are so gentle, attentive, and reassuring with the kids, always making sure they feel safe and comfortable. The front desk staff is equally wonderful—friendly, organized, and always ready to help with scheduling, questions, and anything we need. Every single person in the office treats us with kindness and respect, and you can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk in. We genuinely love his services and are so grateful to have found such a trustworthy, skilled, and compassionate dentist for our children. Highly recommend to any parent looking for exceptional pediatric dental care!

Best kids dentists in all of L.A. My daughter used to be scared and hated going to the dentist. I switched over to Kids Dental Avenue and it was the best decision I ever made. From the front desk staff, to the dentist assistants and all the way to Dr. Gary and Dr. Victoria, EVERYONE is so kind and friendly and really eases nervous childrens minds. My daughter loves going to the dentist and enjoys the perk of watching a cartoon while they check out her teeth. I don't know how to explain to you all that the atmosphere in that office is so serene and calm and welcoming as soon as you walk in. And as a parent it eases my mind as well, knowing that going to the dentist isn't a challenge anymore. We love Dr. Gary and have even had the pleasure to meet Dr. Victoria once when I schedule a same day emergency appt for my daughter. And today we even got an Ortho consultation with Dr. Hart and he too is definitely part of the team. No complaints whatsoever about this place. Only love and praises from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Dr. Gary and Dr. Victoria for having a wonderful practice that really does care and think of the children first. Now we just need an adult office so I can go too 😊
