Dr. David I. Konicov, DDS practices general and sedation dentistry at 5 Benefit Street in Providence, Rhode Island — an historically significant address on one of the most celebrated streets in New England. Benefit Street runs along the slope of College Hill in Providence's East Side, known as the "Mile of History" for its continuous row of eighteenth and nineteenth-century buildings, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The street connects the Brown University campus at the top of College Hill to the Providence waterfront below, lined with Federal and Greek Revival clapboard houses, the Providence Athenaeum library, the First Unitarian Church, and other landmarks that make Benefit Street one of the most photographed historic streetscapes in America.
Dr. Konicov provides general dental care and sedation dentistry for patients across Providence and the broader Rhode Island community. General dental services include comprehensive oral examinations, professional cleanings, dental radiographs, and restorative procedures — fillings and crowns — for patients with routine dental needs. The sedation dentistry component addresses the significant portion of the population who experience dental anxiety or phobia, offering pharmacological sedation options — nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, or IV sedation depending on the patient's needs and the procedure — that make treatment possible for patients who might otherwise avoid necessary dental care entirely.
Benefit Street's College Hill setting draws patients from the Brown University community, the East Side's professional residential population, and patients from across Rhode Island who specifically seek out the sedation dentistry option. The address's historical character distinguishes it from conventional commercial dental locations — an 18th-century streetscape provides an unexpected backdrop for a contemporary dental practice, but one that suits the East Side's layered cultural environment.
For Providence patients seeking general dental care with sedation options in a remarkable historic setting, Dr. David I. Konicov, DDS at 5 Benefit Street on College Hill provides accessible dentistry with anxiety management alongside one of America's great historic streets.

I thoroughly appreciated the three times I have been in the office so far. I feel like I got quick and friendly service. Both cavities I had filled were done correctly and speedily, and I appreciated the amount of information about what was happening, as well as the loan of a stuffed animal when I was really anxious. During my cleaning, I learned new things about how to brush my teeth (softly!), so that my gums can stay healthy. I recommend Dr. Konicov's office.
Let me start off by saying I have suffered great anxiety at the dentist to the point I will be in tears and I completely avoided the dentist office for many years due to that, BUT I knew I needed a dentist and called for my first appointment a couple years back and still going strong to my appointments!! He is empathetic, understanding to your fears/worries, no-judgement as other dentists, he makes you feel comfortable 😊. I give him 5 ⭐️ . Even the staff is phenomenal! I have finally found “my dentist” and couldn’t be happier with his work and work ethic.
Dr Konicov office was the best. Since Benefit Dental Care took over, the office is unprofessional. You can’t even get through to the office when you call! I miss when Debbie worked there- she knew everything. Now 3-4 office staff can’t even do what she did. Might be time for a new dentist- but I liked Dr Konicov and the Hygenist…
Not clean, assistant was pulling cotton swabs for my child’s mouth without gloves. Dr. Konicov did a root canal once he got into the tooth is when he decided that my son needed a root canal. I have never been at a dentist that didn’t know what the tooth needed until they got into The tooth. It’s been about a year, I went to a different dentist who showed my that my child’s root canal was not done right! He still had the roof in the tooth, and now my son has to go for a retreat for his tooth! He is in pain for a tooth that was supposed to be ok amd already done. Now I have to go back because no one will do his job over.
I have been going to Dr. Konicov since I was a teenager. He is great and very professional and he makes sure that he takes care of whatever is bothering you. I highly recommend him and his practice. The care is great right down to the receptionist. Thanks for all that you do and will continue to do.
