About Larson Family Dental

Larson Family Dental sits on East 100 South in Salt Lake City's East Central neighborhood, a general practice built around treating patients of every age under one roof. Rather than splitting kids, parents, and grandparents across different offices, the clinic keeps checkups, restorative work, and more involved procedures within a single family-oriented setting. That structure suits households who'd rather book everyone's care through one office than juggle separate specialists for a child's first cleaning and a parent's crown. It also means a chipped tooth or a persistent ache gets looked at without being bounced to a specialist first.

The service list covers most of what a family needs over time: dental cleaning and fillings for cavities, crowns and bridges for teeth that are cracked, worn, or missing, and root canal treatment, which removes infected tissue from inside a tooth so it can be saved rather than pulled. Gum disease treatment and tooth decay treatment catch problems early, while extractions handle teeth beyond repair. Teeth whitening and broader cosmetic dentistry cover appearance-focused work. A cracked tooth and the crown it eventually needs are often worked out as one visit's conversation rather than two separate appointments, and emergency dentistry covers the days a problem can't wait for a scheduled slot.

If you've been putting off a cracked tooth because you're not sure whether it needs a filling or a crown, this is a place built to figure that out in one appointment instead of a referral chain.

What you'll actually pay depends on the procedure and your specific case — a routine cleaning isn't priced or covered the same way as a root canal, and neither matches what a bridge or crown might run. Affordable dental care is one of the listed services here, which matters most to patients weighing a smaller filling now against a bigger repair later. For a household in East Central that would rather keep a child's cleaning and a grandparent's bridge work at the same address, Larson Family Dental is built around that kind of continuity rather than sending patients elsewhere for anything beyond a checkup.

Larson Family Dental is a general family practice on East 100 South in Salt Lake City's East Central neighborhood, offering cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, gum and decay treatment, whitening, and emergency care for patients of every age.

Why do my gums bleed when the hygienist cleans my teeth?
Bleeding during a cleaning almost always points to inflammation in the gums rather than to rough technique. Gums that are healthy do not generally bleed. The encouraging part is that early gum inflammation is reversible once the build-up causing it is removed.
Does a cavity always need a filling?
Once decay has broken through the enamel it does need treatment, because it will keep progressing. What that treatment involves depends on depth: a filling for most, and more extensive work if it has reached the nerve.
Can early tooth decay be reversed?
Very early demineralisation, before a cavity has actually formed a hole, can sometimes be remineralised with fluoride and better plaque control. Once decay has broken through the enamel surface, it does not heal and needs to be cleaned out and filled.

I’ve been a patient of Doug and Dr. Scott for over 10 years now. After having a lifelong fear of the dentist, this office has made me so much more comfortable. Doug and Dr. Scott make me feel safe and at ease.

Super good dentist. They said I got free pack of gum if I filled out this survey too so that was cool

I have been visiting this dental clinic since 2024, and the hygienists, dentists, and front desk staff have generally been very good. However, I was disappointed with a recent billing issue. My insurance covers two cleanings per benefit year, and I had already used both before my third cleaning, which was scheduled less than half a month before the start of my new benefit year. The office did not clearly inform me beforehand that the cleaning would not be covered or that I would be responsible for an additional charge. Because the office had access to my appointment and insurance history, I believe they should have warned me or suggested rescheduling the cleaning until after the new benefit year began. I hope the office improves how it verifies insurance benefits and communicates possible out-of-pocket costs before providing services.

Really appreciate this dentist. Dr. Larsen is so friendly and the rest of the staff are great. I went here for root canal removals, which many dentists don't do, and then for impartial dentures as I couldn't afford anything else. He's very straight forward about the reasoning of his recommendations and will try to work out a plan that's best for you. Root canal removals were easy and healed nicely.

I have been coming to this dentist since I moved to Salt Lake City in 2016. I have never had a bad experience and Dr. Matt is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with our whole family. 10/10 would recommend this dentist! I do in fact recommend them and have friends that see them religiously for their cleanings & exams. - very clean and sterile - payment plans available - kind staff that remember us - tried & true technology that keeps my oral health in check!
