About Laws Family Dentistry

Laws Family Dentistry is a dental practice on North 51st Avenue in the Rossmore Village HOA area of Glendale, Arizona. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. Every six months works for most people, with more frequent visits advised if you have gum disease or a history of decay. Regular attendance is mostly about catching problems while they are still small.
What is the difference between a general dentist and a specialist?
A general dentist provides comprehensive care across all the common needs and refers out for anything requiring focused training — implants, complex gum disease, orthodontics, and similar. A specialist has completed extra years of training in one specific area.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

I had an appointment scheduled with Laws Family Dentistry and called to cancel and reschedule well within their policy window — 47 hours and 50 minutes before my appointment, to be exact. What should have been a simple, professional conversation turned into one of the most uncomfortable customer service experiences I’ve had. I spoke with Madison, who immediately came across as irritated that I had questions about my appointments. She spoke to me like I was a child and snapped that she had “already gone over this” with me. She also repeatedly kept referring to my appointment as being “the following day” when it was not. My appointment was almost two full days away, which made the whole conversation even more frustrating because I had clearly canceled well within their stated 24-hour policy. Things only got worse when I mentioned canceling the dental work I had scheduled for the following week. Madison asked if it was because of the cancellation fee, in a tone that felt accusatory and unprofessional. At that point, I had already decided I would not be returning. Yes, the fee played a role, but I also explained that I genuinely don’t know what my health or ability to leave the house will look like from week to week due to a disability. Instead of empathy or professionalism, I was met with attitude and condescension. I truly thought I was calling a professional office to reschedule an appointment, not to be lectured or made to feel small for asking questions. So what if I had questions? So what if I had to ask more than once? So what if I needed to cancel? What makes this especially disappointing is that the office presents itself as faith-centered, with religious decor throughout. Unfortunately, the compassion and kindness those messages represent were completely absent from my interaction with Madison. We all have bad days, but patients deserve respect — especially when they are trying to communicate honestly and follow policy. I won’t be returning.

I have been going to Dr Laws for over 10 years. The staff is great. The care is even better. They do book out fast but when they put you on a cancelation list they actually keep in touch and get you in! Highly recommend!

I’m a new customer to Laws Dental and I have to say it was a great experience. The front desk receptionist was very pleasant and helped me with the new patient onboarding process. The hygienist (Makayla) was also friendly and caring and told me exactly what she was doing during my teeth cleaning. Doctor Aaron also made me feel at ease and went over the findings of my teeth cleaning and X-rays. The service was exceptional.
