About Lernor Family Dental

Lernor Family Dental provides dental care on East Greenway Road in the Paradise Valley Village area of Scottsdale, Arizona. Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.

General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. Can a general dentist handle a dental emergency?
Most general dentists can manage common emergencies — significant pain, a broken tooth, a lost filling — and will refer on for anything needing specialist surgical care. It is worth calling ahead so the practice can prioritise you.
What does comprehensive dental care actually include?
It generally means the practice can handle most of what a patient needs under one roof — preventive checkups, restorative work like fillings and crowns, and often cosmetic and minor surgical treatment — rather than referring out for routine needs.
Is comprehensive dental care different from general dentistry?
The terms overlap a great deal. Comprehensive care tends to signal a broader in-house scope — more specialties handled internally — while general dentistry is the baseline routine and restorative service every dental practice offers.

This was my 1st time going to Lernor Family Dental. Jennifer greeted me the moment I walked in and everything that followed was a very positive experience. Dr. Lernor gave me a very thorough exam and explained everything prior to doing it. He asked if I had questions for him which made me feel very comfortable. Joanne who took my x-rays and Emily who cleaned my teeth were both very personable & professional. I would recommend Lernor Family Dental to anyone looking for a new dentist.
