About Light Touch Dental
Light Touch Dental operates on East McKellips Road in Mesa, Arizona. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. I just got my teeth whitened and it was honestly the best experience I’ve ever had! The results are amazing—my teeth have never looked this good. Katharine is hands down the best dentist I’ve come across. She made the whole process so comfortable, explained everything clearly, and truly cares about her patients. I can’t recommend her enough if you’re looking for professional, beautiful results!
I always have a pleasant experience when I visit my dentist whether I am having work done or just regular cleaning.
Dr Spurling and his team did at excellent job recently when I needed a filling done. I have dental fear to the extreme, yet Dr. was able to prescribe a pill and use nitrous oxide to get me through my procedure and relieve my anxiety. The office is really beautiful......Annie at the front desk is so charming, patient and caring and so overall, it was a pleasant experience considering and I would highly recommend Light Touch Dental for all, especially for those like me that can even have panic attacks at the thought of having any dental work done. Thank you Dr. Spurling & team ! SB Mesa, AZ
Dr.Spurling is a great dentist, who takes his time to make you feel comfortable. He made me feel better about fixing a crown I was having trouble with that another Dentist could not seem to figure out. He did his magic and now my mouth feels great with a new crown. Now, our whole family is going to his Dental practice. Happy I came to their office!! Dr.Spurling is the Best!! Thank you light touch Dental Kayla R
Best experience with a dentist I have ever had! I had an exam followed by a deep cleaning. I was very nervous and Dr. Spurling and his team came up with a sedation plan that made the experience almost a non experience. I had no pain during the procedure and no pain the next day. Everyone is caring and professional. I would highly recommend Dr. Spurling for anyone but especially if you have a fear of dentists. I also had a bite guard made. They used a camera/laser to film my teeth and were able to make the guard without a putty impression! Needless to say, this left a superb impression!
I’m not what else I can say other than, excellency is not just for show, it’s culture. The Light Touch Dental team within itself is a standard. They are accommodating patient, caring, fair and available. There was one visit when I was having a procedure and the Dental Tech put lip chap on me. I didn’t ask her to, she noticed my lips had become dry during the process. I’ve never been anywhere and something like that happen. Most people will see something in your nose and will stand and talk to you for 20 minutes and not say a word. I would recommend LIGHT TOUCH DENTAL as being the go to. Dr. Spurling is one of the best I’ve experienced. He cares, he’s approachable, honest and personable.
