About Lydia Wong, DDS

Lydia Wong, DDS operates on Commercial Street in the Chinatown area of San Francisco, California. Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.

Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into alignment, handling complex bite corrections and significant crowding more predictably than removable alternatives. Treatment commonly runs one to three years, with a retainer worn afterward to hold the result.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic dentistry covers treatment aimed primarily at appearance — whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping among the more common options — for patients who are less concerned with a problem that hurts than with how their smile looks day to day. The right combination depends on what specifically you would like to change.

Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath. I went in for her Groupon zoom whitening promotion. The service wasn’t bad whatsoever but her attitude when I asked if it was safe for breastfeeding was full of disgust. Her response was that she doesn’t typically get customers who are nursing and therefore she didn’t exactly know. She asked me when I plan to stop and I told her my baby is 16 months and the new recommendation is to continue until 24. She wholeheartedly disagreed and then started lecturing me about how important it was for me to stop breastfeeding SOON, implying that I will keep breastfeeding just like this other woman she knows who’s still breastfeeding her 6 year old. When I asked her if I should just reschedule, she rejected my proposal and said “you don’t know when you’re going to stop breastfeeding. That could be years”. I reminded her my baby is 16 months, and in another 6 months or so that’s nearly 24! We continued on with the treatment after she insisted it’ll be okay but I believe she just wanted to get paid. Even after the treatment she projected more of her own breastfeeding remorse, how she breastfed her own baby until she was 14 months. If mine is only two months older, I don’t understand the criticism. I asked her how old her baby is and she said she’s 30! Good grief! I’ll never be returning. Note this dentist is also the receptionist. Seems she’s a one woman show.

She’s lovely, is fairly priced and doesn’t try and sell you what you don’t need. I bought a Groupon for teeth whitening and had excellent results. 3 years later and they are still white. I made an appt recently to have another whitening treatment (pre-emotive vanity). She took one look and said she didn’t think I’d get any whiter. Because I prepaid she let my husband use it. Very fair. I have read that if your teeth were very yellow it may take 3 treatments. I did two, tge last was three years ago. Still pretty white but don’t look fake

Dr. Wong had been my dentist for many years. My teeth are in good condition because of her excellent care. She is very knowledgeable, does excellent work maintaining and replacing the crowns on my teeth. She is thorough and patient in answering my questions and explaining my options. I am very grateful to Dr. Wong for taking good care of me.

I was really excited about going to see Dr. Lydia Wong for teeth whitening after purchasing a Groupon for it. I had to reschedule (weeks before my actual appointment) because of mandatory training at work and I got a call from Dr. Lydia Wong’s office stating I was going to be charged $60. WOW! $60 for what? I understand if I would have not shown up to my appointment- BUT I was rescheduling far in advance. Unscrupulous!

Went to Bonita Dental / Dr. Wong for a teeth whitening today. Nice people but A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. My teeth are maybe barely whiter, but you have to use your imagination. They hurt. The stains on my teeth that I had hoped to remove are still there. Only after the hour of bleaching Dr. Wong tells me that teeth whitening doesn't remove stains and that I should buy rembrant toothpaste. She tells me I have to only eat white foods for two days or my teeth will be less white than before the "whitening". She tells me I have bad dental hygiene even though I brush with a Sonicare two times a day and floss daily. And my teeth seriously hurt. Nothing good has come out of this experience.
