About Macdonald Orthodontics
Macdonald Orthodontics operates on East Brown Road in the Alta Mesa Community Association area of Mesa, Arizona. Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.
Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into alignment, handling complex bite corrections and significant crowding more predictably than removable alternatives. Treatment commonly runs one to three years, with a retainer worn afterward to hold the result.
Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth and corrects bite problems using braces, clear aligners, or similar appliances over a period that commonly runs from about a year to several years depending on the case. It is offered to both children, where early evaluation can catch developing issues, and adults at any age.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. In my 50s and finally decided to fix my smile. Dr MacDonald was thorough and honest in my consultation about the challenge presented with my case. In my fifth set of Invisalign trays now and can feel and see teeth moving in the right direction. Satisfied so far with my progress and extremely happy with the entire staff at MacDonald Orthodontics. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional in every aspect of what they do!
The orthodontist seems great, but the lady on the phone didn’t feel very friendly and they denied me a consultation. I thought I’d chosen a great place that could do my braces, but unfortunately they turned me away and it’s against their policy to even get me in the office. Does this office care about seeing new patients? Or is it just the money the patients are bringing in? They promote flexible payment plans but deny me. I feel like I should’ve asked to speak to someone else that would’ve been able to help me here, but I didn’t want to make the woman upset for asking, as she made me feel uncomfortable. After telling her my ortho history, I feel like she was judging me and the reason why I’m denied, although she states it’s against their policy.
I cant rave more about Macdonald Orthodontics. My daughter had a great experince from the first initial appointment to our 4th or 5th visit.
Definitely not recommended. The consult is had with McDonald was not only embarrassing but left me feeling attacked and intimidated. The orthodontist who owns and practices here is extremely unprofessional and from what I saw and experienced, not genuinely passionate about what he does or helping people needing orthodontist care. I wanted to transfer my orthodontist and set an appt at this office. This dr talked to me for 5 maybe 8 mins tops and basically said he couldnt help me because my face was messed up literally insulting my face and body. Then said there isn't anything any orthodontist could do because it wasnt an ortho issue and no one could would treat me in general let alone at his office. He also said it very loud in front of his whole office full of patients and staff there was no privacy during thsi consult at all. He spoke to me so loud knowing his room isnt private and all his patients could here our consultion. I met with 2 other orthodontists in the area. One before I went to his office and one even after him because I was so shocked by the way I was treated in his office. Both never mentioned that my face was 'permanent messed up' so much so they couldnt help me. Also I had been treated twice with braces prior to even being in his office and again no dr had ever said my face was permanently messed up so much there was nothing they or anyone could do for me. In fact it was the opposite. Both previous ortho's treated me promptly with braces and never mentioned anything such as this doc. As well as the orthos I did consults with right around the time I did the consult with him. They quickly and very easly gave me consults with a full treatment plan for the minor correction needed and yes they said there was still a minor correction needed. They said it would be "easily" done in 10 months to a year. I mean it comes down to the fact that this doc does not truly care for patients or for what he does. I would not recommend him based on my experience. I not only have had my own braces but I have also worked with other orthos for my kids braces. So im not ignorant of how it all works. This doctor is not only unprofessional but clearly doesn't see an issues with dismissing a need for treatment and then insulting a potential patients physical features and face. Appalling
Such a wonderful place to get ortho care. The staff is incredible and create a wonderful environment. The extras help with the care. Dr Macdonald is fantastic, cares and is great. I recommend this practice to everyone that is looking at Orthodontic care
I have two teenagers in braces, and when we were first looking for an orthodontist it was honestly hard to decide because there are so many good options around here. I’ve served on the board and coached for our local little league, and I always noticed that Macdonald Orthodontics sponsors and supports our league, which is one of the reasons we chose them. I love seeing local businesses support the kids in our community. All that aside, we’re about a year into braces now and have been really happy with the care and service. So glad we went with them. I’d definitely recommend Macdonald Orthodontist! 😊
The staff and Dr. Keith Macdonald was amazing and welcoming! They were very thorough throughout the entire visit. They explained everything from taking xrays, the assessment plan, and payment plan. They seem very confident in their work & I wouldn’t trust anyone else. Bonus points to Cheryl for pronouncing my name without me telling her how to pronounce it. definitely recommend
Great place to get Braces. My daughter was very nervous to get Braces for the first time and they took such great care of her. They have lots of fun gifts and games to keep the kids interactive with keeping their teeth healthy and we loved the ice cream machine after her braces. The Dr. is very kind and you can feel he takes pride in helping others feel confident and look great!
I was referred to Macdonald Orthodontics by my dentist for Invisalign. The entire staff are welcoming and professional. They always educate me on the procedures and payments, so I leave the appointment without any confusion. I will keep coming back throughout my Invisalign process. I highly recommend! Thank you.
