My experience at mercy was the best, having twins in 2012,boy normal birth,girl tangled in the umbilical cord mind you there were 10 doctors, upon realizing girl was in distress they quickly did a C-section which took 12 minutes to be exact,they complemented themselves on speed and efficiency. During my stay with my mom and babies were incredible, during this time was one of the biggest hurricane Sandy, my room was on the 8th floor, watching the City during that time was amazing. . Thanks mercy for a magical experience.
I am at Mercy hospital right now. This has been the best experience I have ever had with doctors and nurses and the aids . They are compassionate, sweet and absolutely understanding of the pain of there patience. My doctor was Charles Park he is the best neurosurgeon I had the honor of meeting and operating on the site that needed to be fixed. So thank you for everything....

I can't say enough good things about Mercy Hospital. I'm 69 and have lived nearby in Downtown Baltimore for the last two years. Unfortunately I have had to be taken by ambulance three times to Mercy and was admitted once. No one wants to be in the ER or hospital of course but, if that is where I need to be, I want to be at Mercy. Every single person I have interacted with there, including even the sweet Jamaican lady who cleaned my hospital room, has been so kind and warm. I have found Mercy to have a healing atmosphere due to their committed and compassionate employees. The level of competence of the medical staff has also impressed me. I have relatives in other states who hardly see a single doctor when they're in the hospital. When I was admitted I saw six doctors between the ER and the floor I was on after admission. Baltimore has some great hospitals but in my experience Mercy stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to the quality of patient care.
I had my first baby at Mercy in 2024 and there were many positive aspects of my experience, but unfortunately the negative aspects outweighed them and I will not be using this hospital again. I have a history of sexual trauma which I made abundantly clear, knowing it would affect my experience of childbirth and pretty much none of the staff had any trauma awareness at all. I had done my research about what was and was not necessary during labor so I could minimize the touching of my privates. I arrived at the L&D unit 1.5 weeks late, knowing it was not necessary for them to perform a cervical check for them to admit me. The doctor who attended me in triage insisted that I needed one, threatening to send me home if I didn't comply. When I asked to speak to her superior she refused and left the room. Thankfully the nurse who was with us knew she was wrong and went and got the chief of the department. Unfortunately my experience with him was worse. He also attempted to force me to have the procedure and was completely belittling saying things like, "haven't you had counseling for this?" Finally when I threatened to leave and go to another hospital he agreed to admit me because I was 1.5 weeks late. By the time this whole experience in triage was over I was completely triggered and my labor was stalled. Also, they completely misrepresent the ability to use the tubs for labor. I wasn't able to get a tub room when I was admitted because they were full, which I understood. When I asked the nurse if I could switch rooms when one became available she responded with, "oh, no one is allowed to use the tubs. They require a one-to-one nurse which we don't staff. In all my years here I have never seen anyone allowed to use them." !!! They advertise the use of the tubs on their website and during the tour!!! I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone with an interest in using the tubs or who requires any kind of trauma awareness in their care.
