About Mesa Implants & Periodontics

Based on North Norwalk in Mesa, Arizona, Mesa Implants & Periodontics is a dental practice serving the area. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.

Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.

Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment. What services does Mesa Implants & Periodontics offer?

What is a bone graft and why might I need one?
Bone shrinks after a tooth is lost, and if there is not enough left to anchor an implant, grafting rebuilds the volume first. It is a common preliminary step when a tooth has been missing for a long time.
How long does a dental implant take from start to finish?
Commonly several months, because the implant needs time to integrate with the jaw bone before the final crown is fitted. Timelines stretch if a bone graft is needed first, and some cases allow a temporary tooth in the meantime.
What is scaling and root planing?
It is a deep cleaning that goes below the gumline to remove bacterial deposits from the root surfaces and smooth them so the gum can reattach. It is normally carried out under local anaesthetic, often over more than one appointment.

Unfortunately, I had a Dental Issue that required a Tooth Extraction. Obviously, it’s Never a fun time when extraction is used in the sentence. However, the staff and Dr. Jensen Made the process as comfortable as possible. I greatly appreciated the complete Detailed explanation upfront On what to expect. I would recommend Dr. Jensen and his team to anyone needing periodontic or implant work done. You’ll be in good hands!

Dr. Peterson and his team made my gum graft procedure incredibly smooth and comfortable. I came in only expecting treatment on one tooth, but he took a closer look and recommended addressing an additional area for the best result, which I really appreciated. The whole experience was painless, relaxed, and I felt well taken care of the entire time. Highly recommend. Thank you.

These reviews are spot on. 5 stars. I was referred by my dentist (shout out to Dr Cook -aka- Doc That Rocks also 5 stars) for a molar implant procedure. Dr Peterson and staff are extremely professional, friendly and informative. They take the time to explain and educate about the procedural details. Staff personnel went above and beyond to accommodate my appointment scheduling. My expectations have been exceeded in all areas. I am extremely happy and I highly recommend Mesa Implants & Periodontics if you are considering a periodontic or implant procedure.

I was referred here with a potential set of stripped implant screws. They were not only able to quickly and effectively remove the screws in question, but the office environment was very positive, welcoming, and friendly! Great experience which could have been very grim indeed! Thank you again!

I recently went through a gum transplant procedure at Mesa implants and Periodontics. From the beginning of my consultation, to learning how the procedure works, support with insurance, to having the procedure completed and then follow up, the whole team has been very professional, thorough, patient and helpful with all my questions and concerns. They made the whole process very easy. I recommend this practice.

I had a gum graft at Mesa implants and periodontics at first I was hesitant to get the surgery but Dr. Jensen and staff took the time to explain the entire procedure, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. The surgery itself went so smoothly. The doctor and staff truly check in and care about your healing process. The staff is warm, professional, and always welcoming, which makes every visit stress-free. My results turned out amazing, and I’m so grateful for the quality care I received.
