Dr Ward and the hygenists have been fine. But, in the past few years, the office staff has been extremely inefficient and sometimes rude. Waiting almost 2 months for a crown...still not here. Second time this has happened. And, you rarely get anyone on the phone...We've just gone by to ask questions. Edited to add: the mostly good reviews were up until the past 2-3 years. That fits with my timeline. Called again yesterday and asked why so long and where the lab was and was told, this “ is our process”. I asked if she’d have Dr Ward call me and she said she could make me an appointment otherwise no.
This place used to be extraordinary. I was not shocked to read the disappointments. Hopefully the correct honest, professional staff will be a part of the office again. I do not have any concerns with Dr. Wards work itself as of now. The unprofessionalism of the staff. As well as the timeless needed to efficiently and effectively run a business properly. Efficient timely communication is critical. It does not feel like good business representation. It is an uncomfortable feeling.
I never leave reviews but feel compelled to share the deep frustration and horrific experience we had with Middletown Commons Family Dental. The complete absence of quality work, genuine patient care, and compassionate customer service was shocking. It was astonishing to see how little effort was made to listen to our concerns or to fix the terrible work that was done. The provider, Dr. Laura Ward, and the receptionist, Shondra, seemed completely disinterested in patient well-being, showing no real commitment to finding solutions or making things right. The work itself was utterly unacceptable: fillings fell out the very same day they were placed, and then came out again within a single day after the refill. To make matters worse, the receptionist, Shondra, was extraordinarily unprofessional and downright rude. The practice repeatedly canceled our appointments at the last minute, often due to last-minute office closures when we had scheduled our time, taken off work, and trusted they would be there to fix the problem they created. There was zero effort from anyone, be it the receptionist or Dr. Laura Ward, to acknowledge or correct the problems they created. Our experience was beyond unacceptable. In my opinion, I strongly urge anyone seeking dental care to look elsewhere. This has been, without a doubt, the worst dental experience of our lives.
I have been going here since 2019 & I have seen so many staff members come & go. The atmosphere is very negative. I recently left & went to new dentist because of all the issues I was experiencing. Most recently it took well over 9 months to get my tooth for my implant. I called & physically stopped in about 6 times & was consistently told they would call me when it came in but assured me they were monitoring the situation. About a month after my last check in call I had a cleaning & when I asked about it she stated it had been there for 2 months & that they left messages. No I assure you they did not. When I challenged her she continued to defend & say she did, even though she knew I had been continually calling. When they put the tooth in I told her it didn't feel right & she just said that's how its supposed to be & you will get use to it. I gave several chances to this office & was disappointed. Others also said they hated it there & had to leave. Now I am at a great new dentist & he did a full evaluation & advised that there were several issues, the biggest is that my implant is in incorrectly & needs to be redone! There is a tooth behind that that also needs a root canal but because of the poor positioning of the implant the dentist says it needs to be addressed first. I cannot go back to Dr Ward because I do not trust her. Also, on the x-rays sent from her office to the new dentist it showed an issue with a tooth that she never disclosed to me. It needed a root canal & it was ignored. The new dentist informed me & gave me my referral to the endodontist I had seen previously. I went there this morning & he had checked a root canal he did 2 years ago & there was a new issue with that. Whatever material Dr Ward used to complete the tooth was cheap junk and now I have to get that tooth root canaled again! I do not recommend, they do not do quality work, they do not follow up, & they do not listen to their patients! I will spend thousands fixing the damage they caused to me this year.
Terrible dental office. The couple cleanings I have had there they spent less the ten minutes doing the cleaning. I thought maybe it was a fluke but I have seen them three times. I am a natural plaque former so I know based on that info and prior cleanings that it takes more than ten minutes to do a cleaning. I scheduled my appointment six months ahead of time and the week before i get a text saying the dentist will be out of the office but I can still get a cleaning. That makes no sense. Why see only see the hygentist or have to come back to see the dentist? I would avoid.
This place is a SCAM. I had over $7000 worth of shoddy work. I have had to get all of redone by another dentist. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. I was caught in a LOOP there. I sent a certified letter to Dr Ward saying that she lied about the crack in my bridge (which she had just performed which was $3000) stating she either lied or was incompetent at her job. I heard nothing back.the first bridge she installed broke in my mouth before I even got up from the chair. The bridge was shoddy to begin with. The second one was enormous and caused me extreme pain for months and I even had to miss work and a few events which she said was normal. It was too large and cracked. I could feel it and see it. and I had a second opinion from a dentist who said not only was it cracked but she could SEE THE CRACK. I went back to Dr Ward and asked again if it was cracked and she said no. That is when I left for good. She lied. Nearly ALL of my crowns fell off multiple times. I had to go back regularly to get them glued on. I was in a financial loop there. One popped off while I was eating and I had to buy another one. Which popped off all the time too. I lost a top back tooth after me telling her multiple times something wasn't right about it and she crated it and said it was fine and then within that year it apparently died so I had to get it pulled. That was going on during the bridge pain. At one point early in my patient relationship with Dr Ward I recommended her to one of my friends and she stopped going as well be a her crown kept popping off too. Scammers.
It's been 5 months and I'm still waiting for my dentures! I do not recommend this business in fact I would give it zero stars if I could. I have called at least a half dozen times and they can't or won't tell me anything about the status of my dentures. I've paid in cash and I'm afraid I'm going to have to go to another dentist and have to pay more for what I've already had done. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! 6 months now!!! I have reported them to the BBB and have started legal action. SHAME! How dare you run a business like this!
Dr Ward was good at getting my teeth pulled. Making impressions before implants done in August. But getting my dentures is another issue. If you get to talk to someone in office you get, I will check when they are going to be here, they are supposed to be here next week or I will call you when they arrive. Answer service says i will send message to call back and NO ONE CALLS BACK. I think 5 months after impressions are done is a little ridiculous. I wish i had never paid for them first because i know they will not refund me. Just makes me mad.
Best dentist ever! Everything is clean and neat. They have TVs in the rooms for you to watch while you’re getting your teeth cleaned. We are always greeted when we walk in and feel so welcome. The girls in the back are so nice and Connie is especially great! Dr Ward is so fantastic with my daughter.
