About Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry

Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry provides dental care on West Hillsborough Avenue in the Town N County Park area of Tampa, Florida. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. I’m always scared of going to the dentist. I went for a cleaning today and was worried because I was scheduled with a dental hygienist (Christian) I’ve never met before. I let him know I was scared and that even cleanings hurt most times. He made sure every step of the way that I was ok and not having any pain.

I never post reviews. Ever. I’m that lazy. That should tell you how amazing the team here is. After suffering years of dental issues and a HUGE fear of dentists, I finally made an appointment with them a year ago. Today, I’m happy to walk in and see them for my cleanings and other dental issues. Liz has been by far the best person I’ve ever worked with when it comes to dental matters. I have never once felt judged for the condition of my mouth. From the day I first walked in to my appointment today, she’s been a beacon of compassion for us dentally challenged folk. The doctors there are also excellent! I’ve had to deal with quite a few from Dr. Monticciolo himself to the ones more local at the various locations. They’ve all been pleasant to deal with, and I encourage everyone to give these amazing folks a try if they have any sort of dental anxiety. I feel like a human being again, and it’s all thanks to the team here.

Had a recent visit for an emergency. The staff took me right in and Dr. Beltran was amazing! God bless Dr. Beltran for diagnosing the problem quickly and getting me the right treatment. She is a truly compassionate person.

Dr. Beltran is the truly the best dentist I have ever had, and this is the best staff and dentist experience I have ever had. I have been scared of visits to the dentist as I have been scarred before with very terrible experiences at other dentist offices, but Dr. Beltran is absolutely amazing, is super professional, very knowledgeable, and just the best. I had a wisdom tooth removal with only local numbing and not being put under, and Dr. Beltran and the team here did an amazing job. Everyone who works here is truly amazing and makes the process so calm, peaceful, and easy. But specifically, Dr. Beltran is amazing with making sure you are totally and completely numb in the areas they will be working in, and she does it truly in a pain free way like I’ve never experienced before. Ever. Sandra in the front office is also so amazing and such an amazing help with making sure you’re taken care of! Truly amazing work and I’m so excited to continue coming back here and to Dr. Beltran for as long as I can!

I like many others are very picky on which dentist to go to because of the horror stories hou hear out there. I just have to say Yesenia and Sandra along with the lady that does the teeth cleaning are super amazing at what they do. They made me feel comfortable, explain every process step by step and are professional! Thank you for doing what you do the way you do it team Monticcilo!
