About NARA Dental Clinic

Based on Southeast Stark Street in the Mill Park area of Portland, Oregon, NARA Dental Clinic is a dental practice serving the area. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Periodontal care focuses on the health of the gums and the bone that supports the teeth, from preventive gum health checks through to deeper treatment once disease has taken hold. Left untreated, gum disease is a leading cause of adult tooth loss, which is why it is monitored at every checkup.

An extraction removes a tooth that cannot reasonably be saved — from advanced decay, severe infection, impaction, or overcrowding ahead of orthodontic treatment. Done under local anaesthetic, the appointment itself is not painful, though soreness for a few days afterward is normal.

At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. They haven’t answered the phone or voicemails or emails in 7 months!!!! How can they stay in business if they won’t even let you pay on your bill. The dentist and dental assistant were great but the front desk is a totally different story. It’s Amateur Hour for sure!!!! RIP NARA DENTAL!!

I’ve had 6 appointments and have received no dental work whatsoever. This place is a scam. They just want to bill your insurance for as much as possible without doing any work on your teeth.

I love the compassion and treatment from the doctor and nurses. The reason for such a low rating is because of their scheduling. I've attempted the same appointment twice only to be told I'm not scheduled because another person with my first name was scheduled instead.. I dont believe they use last names when they schedule. I've wasted more than enough gas going back and forth. I waited 30 minutes after checking in and using my last name to be told I wasn't scheduled. Unfortunately their mistakes won't be encouraging me to return. I'll be finding somewhere closer as traveling over an hour to get there was ridiculous in itself when there are many closer to me. It sadness me deeply to leave such a negative review and experience.

The BEST dentist I have ever had hands down. I have bad dental anxiety but they are all so kind and sensitive and professional. The front desk is as nice as the dentists and assistants too. My cleaning was actually fun, what? Never had that before! There was no shaming or criticism, they helped me figure out a plan that works for me.They treat you fairly no matter your background or appearance. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the care is, and they provide vital options for low-income patients. You'll notice most of the negative reviews mention issues with phone calls and insurance verification, BUT they just hired a new sweet front desk girl to train to help address this so don't let that dissuade you.
