About New Beginnings Dental Center
New Beginnings Dental Center operates on Westlake Road in the Westover area of Fayetteville, North Carolina. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Just left from New Beginnings and wanted to leave a review for a job well done. I had a great experience from start to finish. You feel like family after your first visit. I got two fillings today was in and out and will be coming back to get a crown next week. My teeth haven’t felt and looked this good in a while. Thank you Doctor Hodge and staff!
Simply amazing service. If you need someone to fix some teeth, look no further. Dr. Hodge is professional, polite and gentle. Dr. Hodge has a very rare gift. He is able to make some one feel as though they are the only person that matters at the moment. I asked him a couple of slightly personal questions and he was happy to share how he became a dentist and where he was from. I was in a great deal of pain, and he had the consideration to get it stopped, prior to going any further. Just a great experience.
I called and requested an appt for a front crown that needs to be re-cemented because it’s slipping. I was told by the woman who answered that Medicaid does not cover anything to do with crowns. It was a lie. I called Medicaid and advised them that the dentist they provided to me (new beginnings) said they don’t cover it. Medicaid stated they do cover certain crown work and what the dentist needs to do is submit a prior authorization with their findings. They provided me with Day and Night dentist and I called, did a walk in, they made sure the tooth underneath was still in good condition and sent in the prior authorization paperwork to Medicaid . In less than a week I was approved to have my crown recemented. Please don’t let this dentist office be your last option or allow them to tell you what Medicaid covers and don’t cover. They are not informed and obviously they don’t want to be. Look elsewhere and don’t give up. I am in the process of making a complaint because they should not be accepting Medicaid if they can’t be truthful or too lazy to know what Medicaid will and will not cover. Responding to Dentist- yes you are absolutely correct. That’s what Re-Cement means. Not 1 time did I mention a new crown. Re-cement means to re-cement what’s already in my mouth. This is literally what I told the person that answered the phone. That my crown was slipping and needed to be re-cemented . What you need to do is let the woman at the desk answering the phone know what that means. She immediately said Medicaid will not pay for ANYTHING dealing with crowns. I wasnt looking for a new crown because I didn’t need new. I wasn’t a patient of yours because your staff lacks comprehension skills.
Dr. Oliver L Hodge Jr. is the best! Very kind and professional! Everything was done on time without fail! My first two visits here couldn’t have been better! 5 stars!
I’ve been here twice for wisdom tooth extractions, and both times were great! I was pretty nervous, but Dr. Oliver is very professional and skilled. The procedure was super quick and painless, and he answered all of my questions. I walked in around 10 a.m., and even though there was a little wait, it was totally worth it. Highly recommend!
Walked in for an emergency tooth extraction for a broken tooth and Dr. Oliver took care of me. I was unsure if I could be seen since it was about 2 hrs before they closed! He got me in and I feel so much better!
