A rapid palatal expander is cemented to the upper molars with a small jackscrew spanning the palate, and turning it a fraction of a millimeter a day separates those halves gradually while new bone fills the gap behind. That creates real arch length for crowded teeth and corrects a crossbite at its skeletal source instead of tipping teeth outward to disguise it. The suture fuses in the late teens, and afterward the same widening usually requires a surgically assisted or bone-anchored approach.

Beyond growth appliances, the practice covers conventional and Damon braces, clear aligners, bite correction for overbites and underbites, and retainers to hold the result.
