Baxter DMD (Suite 704, ID 3068), Dupont Dental (ID 3077), Minovi Dental (Suite 400, ID 3120), Nadine Soga DMD (Suite 710, ID 3122), and Neil L. Starr DDS PC (Suite 306, ID 3126). Oral surgery as a dental specialty covers a range of procedures beyond the scope of general dentistry: surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, dental implant placement, bone grafting, jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), treatment of oral pathology, and management of dental injuries. Having an oral surgeon in the same building as multiple general dentists facilitates smooth referrals and coordination when a general dentist encounters a case that requires surgical management — a meaningful convenience for both practitioners and patients.
Suite 508 on the fifth floor places the oral surgery practice in the mid-section of the 1234 19th Street building, between the lower-floor general dental practices (Neil Starr at 306, Minovi at 400) and the upper-floor practices (Dr. Baxter at 704, Dr. Soga at 710). The Dupont Circle Metro station is the nearest transit access point for this 19th Street NW address.
For DC patients in the Dupont Circle and downtown professional corridor who have been referred for oral surgery — or who are establishing care with a surgeon for implant placement, wisdom tooth removal, or other surgical procedures — this Suite 508 oral surgery practice at 1234 19th Street NW provides specialty care in a building that also houses five general dental practices for coordinated referrals.

I came here twice for molar extractions, first with Dr. Merlo (who also did bone graft) and then with Dr. Salous last week. I'm a very nervous person and both times I had a good experience. The front desk, and particularly the medical assistants, were incredibly nice and supportive. When I had a concern outside of business hours, I contacted Dr. Merlo and he responded immediately. Plus, they offer very reasonable prices compared to other places. I'll be doing an implant soon, and this is definitely where I'll go. I trust Dr. Merlo and his team.
Cant speak to the oral surgery work but this place reeks of administrative incompetence. I had phone calls to schedule the appointment and confirm my insurance, received a verbal quote as to how much I would be paying in co-pay, filled out the pre-appointment new patient questionnaires in advance, and stressed the urgency of the appointment over the phone, only to arrive and have the front desk tell me they don’t accept my insurance. The fact that I made it that far and wasted a week in tooth pain only to find out at the last minute they don’t take my insurance after confirming they did is jarring and disturbing.
Dr. Merlo and his team is a blessing. I needed an emergency extraction and was in a lot of pain. They took me in the same day and my wait was not long at all. Dr. Merlo has a great bedside manner and makes you comfortable about the procedure and explains everything thoroughly. I highly recommend him and his practice. From the front desk to the care I give them a 10/10.
I had an appointment 12/9. The staff was very nice. Office was small but very clean and has seating. My issue is after the appointment. I went in for a consultation for a root canal. The surgeon said she didn't think I needed one and I should go back to my dentist and inform them of that. I didn't receive any paper work when I left, and emailed twice to see if I could get something that states what the surgeon recommended. I heard nothing. I try to explain to my dentist what was said to me, but I'm not in this industry and don't have to vocabulary to explain everything said to me. So the next thing I do is call and leave a message and have heard nothing. I'm going to get a second opinion because my dentist is certain I need this root canal, but I would have loved a little help and support in communicating what took place during this consultation.
These people are the best!! Everyone was so nice and welcoming during my consultation and wisdom teeth extraction! I was so scared but all the staff made me feel so much better and calmer! They did an amazing job on my wisdom teeth as well!!
