About Orthodontic Arts

Based on Northwest 10th Street in the Midtown area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Orthodontic Arts is a dental practice serving the area. Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth and corrects bite problems using braces, clear aligners, or similar appliances over a period that commonly runs from about a year to several years depending on the case. It is offered to both children, where early evaluation can catch developing issues, and adults at any age.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. You can reach Orthodontic Arts through this page to ask a question, check current availability, or request an appointment.

What is the difference between an orthodontist and a general dentist doing braces?
An orthodontist has completed additional years of specialist training focused specifically on tooth movement and bite correction, beyond the general dental degree. Some general dentists also offer braces or aligners after extra training.
How do I know if I need orthodontic treatment?
Visible crowding or gaps are the obvious signs, but bite problems — teeth not meeting correctly, jaw discomfort, or uneven wear — are just as common a reason, and those are best assessed in person.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

Orthodontic Arts is a superior practice! 3 of my household are patients there. We love this practice due to their forward-thinking approach to growth and development. Also of note: Bri took exceptional care of my boy when he was nervous to begin treatment. Every member of their team has taken great care of my family! 🦷🪥

Best service experience and orthodontic work in Oklahoma, hands down! My son just finished with braces and every encounter with this office was professional and completely patient focused. They were so helpful with payment options and the plan of care. My son’s teeth look absolutely perfect! Anytime I needed anything they were easy to get a hold of and I had no issues getting appointments scheduled. This felt like a luxury service experience every time - thank you Orthodontic Arts!

After 2 decades of my smile not being what I’d like, I began research to find an orthodontist. Now having grown up amongst dentist (father would sell and install dental office equipment, mother a dental hygienist and technician by profession) I am a bit more discerning than most about a dentist, their equipment and methods. After a week of researching I easily found Orthodontic Arts on the very top. It obviously caught my eye but what really had me was the detailed reviews of people who had or are using their services. Which to this day, i have yet to see in any other industry or professional. Is the hype genuine? Oh yes it is!! I stopped by their Midtown OKC office to get an evaluation... First of all the office environment embraces you brightly and in a welcoming manner. Its lit by energy efficient LED lighting and all the equipment is the latest and greatest in the industry. The receptionist felt like a friend of decades after just walking in less than a minute prior. YES ITS THAT GOOD! Going to have my braces adjusted is the highlight of my month. Now yes having braces can be a very painful experience. But here somehow, someway they have turned a known to be painful experience into a “SPA like” experience. How so? Well, you look forward to it, you feel like family, not a customer, everyone is friendly and everyone knows your name (just like Cheers when Norm walked in! If you understand the reference), and everyone wants to do what they can to genuinely make your experience the most awesome you have had that day! It is memorable for sure. I had to make an appointment for the evaluation. At the appointment I was received bu Chelsea and the welcoming team. I was not charged for the consultation. But i was treated to an very thorough evaluation to include a 3D scan of my teeth for their planning of the treatment I needed. In comes the leader of the team. Chelsea introduces Dr. David Birdwell. A prompt yet very kind person with an ominous get compassionate presence. You can clearly tell that the staff here doesn’t just work for him; but they genuinely love him, what he has created, the team he has put together and the philosophy or simply the relaxing and supportive work environment. Dr. Birdwell evaluated me and wrote his notes. He was not rushed but he was efficient asked very good questions and wrote any notes and observations. But the plan was not complete. He had to plan the process and sequence of events. I received a call a few days later to make appointment and the process was explained to me by Dr. Birdwell then Chelsea was very profesional and kind to explain the costs and options available and inquired if I had any questions. I did ask a couple of questions and a fee months later I signed up and we all got started on this journey together. Everyone at this office has been awesome, not a single appointment goes by without feeling like my presence was missed and welcomed( pretty strange feeling yet a good one and amazing detail) or they asking how have I been, and how am I at the moment. Feels like an old friend reunion every time!!! Would I recommend it? If i could give it 10 stars I would. This is by far the most friendly, patient oriented, affordable, caring, compassionate, beautiful, clean, relaxing and profesional dental practice I have ever seen. Its the kind if place that without a doubt I’d say makes the world a better place. Simply because every smile( and there are plenty of them every visit) is not only genuine but an Orthodontic Art!!!! Will post more photos during next visit!!!
