About Paramount Dental Care & Specialty

Paramount Dental Care & Specialty provides dental care on Paramount Boulevard in the North Long Beach area of Long Beach, California. Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. How many hours a day do I need to wear clear aligners?
Around twenty to twenty-two hours daily is the usual instruction — effectively all the time except when eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth. Treatment slows noticeably if that is not kept to.
Can people tell I am wearing clear aligners?
They are considerably less noticeable than fixed braces, which is the main reason people choose them, though they are not completely invisible at close range. Small attachments bonded to some teeth can be faintly visible.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

This dental office changed my dental appointment three times while waiting almost a month, then another month after rescheduling. Now three days until my appointment they call and try to reschedule saying the dr wont be in the day of my appointment, then try to push it back another week. Just unprofessional. I never return to this Dentistry.

I had my teeth cleaned by Tiffany today and she did a good job. Evelyn was very helpful with my appointments as always. She deserves a raise. Thank you!

Dr. Beroukhim is a truly great Orthodontist. He is professional, knowledgeable, kind, approachable and funny. Our daughter (13) just got her braces off and her teeth look amazing. At every visit, he made her feel important and heard, taking the time to walk her through the process, encouraging her and patiently listening to and answering her questions. Highly recommend him!

I am absolutely appalled by this dental office. It feels as though dental and medical care has shifted from patient health to simply filling the pockets of mediocre individuals who happen to hold licenses. I contacted this office because I am dealing with a painful broken crown. After calling several different locations, I chose this one because they told me specifically to come in for a same-day tooth extraction. Once I arrived, they took X-rays and pictures. I was then seen by an orthodontist who tried to sell me braces or Invisalign; I declined. When the dentist finally arrived, she performed a perfunctory exam and insisted I needed a cleaning and various other procedures, yet she refused to extract my tooth that day. When I explained that her staff had promised the extraction would happen during this visit, she simply said, “Talk to my staff,” and rudely walked away. The staff then returned and denied that any such promise was made. They proceeded to present me with a list of recommended work and the associated co-payments. I reiterated that I wanted to start with the extraction and asked for the dentist’s availability. The staff member returned only to tell me the dentist would not see me at all. She denied me emergency dental care simply because she couldn't profit from me in the way she intended. This office seems used to taking advantage of vulnerable patients. It is unfortunate that this is the state of the world. Please stay alert and learn how to navigate these systems. I have already contacted my dental insurance provider to file a formal grievance. I will take this as far as necessary to ensure this doesn't happen to others. This behavior is not only inhumane—it borders on insurance fraud.

This was my first time at this dental office and my experience was great! The staff was excellent and seemed genuinely caring. The office is small, yet neat and clean. I felt like the cost for work done was very affordable due to the fact that I don't have traditional Dental insurance, I have Aflac. Dr. John is very good, nice and caring and I will recommend him to all of my family and friends.
