About Pasadena Periodontics

Pasadena Periodontics is a dental practice on North Hill Avenue in the Mid Central area of Pasadena, California. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. The whole team is so professional. I know I'm in good hands and their cleanings are the best. I love the fact that you don't have to wait around -like in other dentist offices- and you will be seen at the time of your appointment.

The office design is very charming and the office staff very pleasant. Dr. Law, assisted by the lovely Tatiana, were professionals who took their work seriously, but not without keeping the atmosphere light and making sure I was comfortable with the job they were doing. It was my second extraction, and although I was hopeful it didn’t have to be done, I’m grateful that Pasadena Periodontics exists so that it was done right.

Dr. Henroid was recommended to me by my dentist. He was very thorough, kind, and explained things very well. If I ever need to return to a periodontist, I will definitely be coming back to see him. Also, I did not have to wait more than a few minutes and was seen on time after I arrived a tad early, The office staff was also very nice. There was plenty of free parking as an added little bonus. I highly recommend this office.

Best experience ever! My regular dentist recommended a periodontist, but I decided to do my own research, followed my instincts and found Pasadena Periodontists. I’m in Glendora but didn’t mind the drive when I saw the good reviews, as I’m usually apprehensive when it comes to any dentist. Booking an appointment was easy, my drive was actually longer than my visit- which was amazing. I did have an early appointment, not sure if that made a difference. I prefilled my paperwork as well using the link provided. When I arrived the front desk was great, didn’t push for any extra services, and with my insurance on file I got called back within seconds. I was seen by Dr. Law who analyzed my bite, came up with a game plan to heal a loose front tooth, and recommended retainers. Surprisingly, she offered to shave my teeth down a bit to help my overall bite. It definitely sounds worse than it was. She also checked my gums (I barely felt anything), she’s got hands of an angel and she was done with everything in MINUTES. Really glad I found this office and Dr. Law, thank you!!!

Dr Henriod had previously successfully treated me for three implants. This time I needed two new implants, close to each other. During the consultation, he told me how he could treat me this time and gave a clear explanations of what would happen. We discussed the pros and cons involved so I could make a decision on how I wanted to move forward. I said, let's do it. A few days later I was in the chair. He numbed my gums (truly painlessly) and worked from there. When he completed the work, he explained to me, in detail, what I needed to do the next ten days before returning for an assessment. When I returned, he looked closely at how the two implants were progressing. All looked good and I am scheduled to return in about seven weeks for a final assessment. Dr Henriod was professional and personable throughout, and the dental assistant and the front desk people were all friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Pasadena Periodontics!

I had an initial consultation with Dr. Henriod and was very impressed. He was thorough, straightforward, and credible. What stood out most was his integrity. After evaluating everything, he told me I did not need surgery and instead gave me practical recommendations for maintenance and prevention. I value honesty and good judgment highly, and I left with a great deal of trust in him. Highly recommend.

I scheduled a new patient consult after confirming multiple times with the office that the visit would be fully covered by my insurance. I specifically asked before booking, at check-in, and again after the appointment. The visit itself lasted about 1–2 minutes. The dentist performed a brief visual exam and told me everything looked fine. No periodontal probing, charting, or treatment planning was done. The office initially billed my insurance under a comprehensive periodontal evaluation code, which did not reflect the services performed. After I questioned it, they resubmitted the claim under a limited exam code, which was then denied due to frequency limitations. I was ultimately required to pay $50 to avoid collections. What disappointed me most was not just the billing issue, but the lack of empathy when I raised concerns to “Rafi”. There was no acknowledgment of the miscommunication or incorrect initial coding.. just a firm statement that it was “my responsibility.” Clear communication about coverage and better billing transparency would have prevented this situation. I hope the office improves this process for future patients. very disappointed
