About Passyunk Dental Group
Passyunk Dental Group is a dental practice on West Passyunk Avenue in the South Philadelphia West area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. People think I’m crazy when I say I’m excited to go to the dentist, this place is the best!
Made an appointment for a cracked tooth, that I already had a root canal on years ago and wanted to save if possible. When I got to the office they just made an appointment for a check up on accident by the receptionist and when I went to my appointment the male dentist was very rude to me and rushed and then had the audacity to call me someone elese's name while looking at the screen of someone elses x-rays, He was going to just clean my teeth because they didnt have time for anything else that day. And he was leaving me and going to other patients like a chop shop, but he said my gums were too inflammed so he couldn't even do that. Um yea my tooth broke and my mouth cut up. . So I made another appointment with them which i didnt want to, but i needed to get this taken care of right away. On my next appointment the assistants put me in the chair and Lena came in ready to extract my tooth without any explanation of any other services to fix. Almost as if she assumed as if I didn't have the money to pay for any other services. Seems like I was stereotyped. I was very upset and so uncomfortable. I also had few small filings there before and they fell out, and the male dentist told me that she never did them. Its more of a meat market there and I would not recommend. After speaking my mind and asking about other things that could be done to save it...Lena told me a bone graft would be needed and it would cost $500, I went home a few blocks away came back with the cash but i decided to walk out because the way I was treated and embarrassed. Maybe for some of you with small things worked out or maybe they had a better day that day...but I wouldn't be able to trust them with the bigger problems your having. There are far too many other Dentist that take their time and care about their patients. I did get a new dentist and so happy with the results. I should of made a complaint to the Dental Association for their behavior, but me being the kind person I am I did not. This really happened 100% You cant make this up! And the most recent reviews look fake, trying to get their ratings up...so obvious
Dr Marcel was really patient & gentle with me. The staff was also kind, professional & friendly. The place was clean as well.
Had an appointment with them today at 12:30 on Saturday and i had confirmed the appointment as well. I waited there and the office was closed….
Best staff and dentist around the place is super clean and friendly ! I highly recommend
Doctor Marcel is the Sweetest Dentist, and the workers are nice as well! Very good bedside manner! I never have to wait for an appointment, they are very accommodating! Highly recommend!😊
I've had quick, painless procedures performed by courteous and expert staff, the most recent of which was a deep cleaning. Not only was it painless, but I was also able to eat afterwards right away.
I had a really good experience here. staff was very nice and pleasant, i believe i was seen by dr Lena; incredible dentist. She was very clear and to the point, i like that, and didn't try and upsell me or convince me to get things i didn't need i really like that, it shows a lot of integrity.I also like how it was kinda of like just in and out? not rushed but she's obviously very skilled at her profession as it didn't require much time. will be returning for sure.
Always a great experience! I had to get a partial and absolutely love how it came out. Also, I had cavities filled and Dr. Marcel made it painless and fast. I feel well taken care of and they have my best interest. Everyone is kind and easy to talk to!
