About Peak Family Dental Care
Peak Family Dental Care is a dental practice on North Kendrick Street in Flagstaff, Arizona. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.
A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.
A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.
Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.
Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.
Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear. The entrance was closed and locked at 3pm and there was a “Closed, call again” sign hanging at the entrance. And the receptionist McKinze was very unwelcoming and unpleasant and indifferent.
Kind staff and wonderful service. Best dentist in town. Helen was great!
Very pleasant experience. Professional service. Very kind, friendly staff.
I was blown away by a level of professionalism and care I've never really experienced before. The way staff carried themselves and made me feel welcome and at ease, the vibe and ambiance of the space was elegant and state of the art, and my Dr. actually made me feel like he saw me and cared about my concerns. Just another level of quality all around I've never really experienced before. Highly recommend.
The irony of having a sign in the lobby that they treat you like family is comical to say the least. Here is my honest review of how my appointment went this morning. When I walked in I was not greeted, the front desk staff stared at me as if she was confused why I was there. No greeting, no smile, no people skills. She just asked what my name was. This is unacceptable behavior, even for the younger generation. I went in for a crown replacement that is completely intact, and just wanted it recemented. I was told I needed a new crown for great low price of $2000 all could be mine in 2 hours tops, since crowns are made in-house. I asked for a discount since I'm uninsured and was rejected, I asked if I paid cash in full, rejected again. The response was "we don't do that here, our owners just wont allow it"! The dentist tried to tell me that the cost is standard, which is not accurate. I have a mouth filled with crowns and vaneers and have never paid even close to that amount. I was going to get extensive treatment here, including transfer of care, but I now will continue my dental treatments in Phoenix. This place also charges a 3% credit card fees. This place sure does treat you like family, and I'm being facetious. Consumer beware!
Dr. Shanahan is truly one of a kind. Not only is his dental work exceptional, but the impact he’s had on my life goes far beyond that. Thanks to him, I’ve been able to restore my confidence and regain the ability to live a better, more comfortable life. From the moment you walk in, you can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. Not just their dental health, but their overall well-being. He takes the time to listen, understand, and make sure you feel taken care of every step of the way. 10/10
My experience at Peak Family Dental Care was excellent from start to finish. I went in as an emergency patient with extreme pain from an abscessed tooth. All the staff was friendly, compassionate & helpful, making me as comfortable as possible. Dr. Shanahan was very personable & thorough explaining my treatment & what to expect so that I was well prepared for the procedure. They made sure that the pain was as minimal as possible. I highly recommend this practice!
