About Pearl. Dentistry Reimagined College Street

Pearl. Dentistry Reimagined College Street operates on North College Street in the Charlotte center city area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.

Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.

Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.

At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. You can reach Pearl. I’ve been going to Pearl (a lot) over the past year for cleanings, fillings, crowns, and now Invisalign, and I’ve been really happy with the care I’ve received! Dr. Amanda took the time during our very first appointment to identify and address dental concerns that my previous dentist had dismissed. My tooth pain is finally gone, and I’m working toward a better, brighter smile. Dr. Amanda Curlin, Saige, Kayla, Jaz, and Jess — these are my girls! They’ve all been so wonderful to work with and chitchat every time I come in. I deducted one star as appointments can sometimes feel a bit rushed and proactive communication could be a little stronger. That said, I’m really glad I made the switch to Pearl and have enjoyed having them as my primary dentist. xo

The entire staff is wonderful!! Saige, my hygienist, was so fun and personable I almost forgot I was at the dentist. She did a GREAT job. Dr. Jenny took extra time to explain her recommendations and ease my concerns. Really appreciated the empathetic approach of the entire staff!

Had the best cleaning of my life today at Pearl on College St. with dental hygienist Saige! She took her time to get every millimeter of my teeth truly clean. I told her jokingly that she got anything that a prior hygienist may have left behind. Thanks for your patience, your attention to detail and your fun conversation. You made a difference today and my entire mouth feels happy!

I had such a great experience at Pearl Dentistry! My dental hygienist Taylor was amazing very knowledgeable, professional, and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire appointment. She explained everything clearly and took her time with me, which I really appreciated. Dr. Amanda was also incredibly kind, educational, and thorough. She made sure I understood everything about my dental health and answered all of my questions with care. The whole staff was welcoming, and the experience was smooth from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Over the past three years I have been receiving my dental care from Pearl, and as a result I've been able to overcome a phobia that inhibited me from seeing dentists for over a decade. Dr. Amanda Curlin met me with compassionate understanding and clarity, and she even made me feel comfortable about getting my wisdom teeth removed. She's calm, patient and extremely patient-centered. This week I went in for a cleaning and my hygienist was Taylor. She was wonderful, extremely well-informed as to current peer-reviewed research re: dental and periodontal health, and made me feel safe and heard the whole time. Very encouraging, and they both took the time to help me weigh a few dental health options that I need this year. *chef's kiss*

Avoid Pearl Dentistry Reimagined if you care about honesty, transparency, and basic integrity. This has been one of the most aggressively profit-driven dental offices I’ve experienced. Nearly every visit turns into a sales pitch - fluoride treatments, fillings, night guards, or something new each time. The pressure is uncomfortable and feels more like a commission-based sales environment than a healthcare setting. They also charge without clearly communicating. Fluoride was applied without proper explanation or consent, then billed afterward. The same thing happened to my wife on a separate visit, and they even used a deposit I had on file without informing me. There was no discussion, just charges. While some staff members are friendly, it’s clear they are under pressure to upsell, which creates an awkward experience for both sides. The pattern continues with treatment recommendations. I paid thousands for Invisalign, yet they still pushed a $500 night guard as if it were necessary. At nearly every visit, they “find” new fillings. At one point, they even suggested redoing a filling they had completed just a year earlier, again at my expense. After getting multiple second opinions, other dentists disagreed with most of these recommendations. The most frustrating experience involved my implant crown. Within months, it became loose while I was eating soft food. Considering the cost of the procedure - even after insurance—that’s unacceptable. When I contacted the office, they couldn’t see me for two weeks. When I finally came in, I was charged $100 just for the visit (after explaining I no longer had insurance), and $255 total for a quick fix that took about 10 minutes—something that shouldn’t have failed so soon in the first place. There was no apology or accountability, just another bill. At that point, it became clear that this office will find ways to charge you in almost any situation. I’ve never seen a medical practice so focused on maximizing revenue. What makes it worse is that people I referred here had similar experiences: constant upselling, questionable diagnoses, and feeling pressured into unnecessary treatments. I regret not taking their feedback more seriously earlier. If you’re considering major dental work like crowns or implants, I strongly recommend going elsewhere or at least getting a second opinion. These are procedures that should last, and based on my experience, this office does not stand behind their work. Do yourself a favor and choose a provider that prioritizes patient car, not one that treats you like a revenue opportunity.

Doctor lied to me about having a cavity, which I have since confirmed I do not have. They also tried to charge me for X-Rays I did not receive. They have high ratings because you get a free whitening kit for a 5 star review. The people who work there are nice to your face, but very unethical. Avoid this place.

I have been going to Pearl Dentistry for about 4 years and my experience there has always been phenomenal. Regardless of the purpose of my visit (fillings, crown, cleanings) the care is amazing and better than any other dentist office I’ve been too. I’ve been worked on by a majority of the staff and every single time they are so nice and pleasant to be around. They constantly make sure you are comfortable and do their best to make the entire appointment as painless and easy as possible. The practicing dentists are a credit to their field and I’m constantly impressed with the quality of care they give. I can’t recommend them enough!

Doctor Amanda is number 1 in my ❤️. I look forward to seeing her every time I come. Sometimes I even make my teeth dirtier just so I can come in sooner to see her. Front desk and all staff are just the loveliest little angels.
