About Pennsylvania Center for Dental Excellence

Most of the people who walk into 11905 Bustleton Avenue live within a few miles of it: Somerton, Parkwood and Bustleton households in Philadelphia's 19116 ZIP, along with a steady flow of patients from just over the Bucks County line. The age mix skews adult and older adult, with working-age patients staying ahead of cracked molars and worn bite surfaces, and retirees deciding what to do about teeth that have already been patched two or three times. Dr. Christine Han leads the clinical side, and the practice has sat on this stretch of the Northeast since 1983, so multi-generation families on the schedule are ordinary rather than remarkable.

A single dental implant is a sequence, not an appointment, and it helps to know the shape of it before you commit. It begins with imaging and a scan to measure how much bone is actually available at the site. If the tooth is still in place, it comes out and the socket is often grafted at the same visit, then left to heal for roughly three to four months. The titanium post goes in next and needs its own integration period while bone grows tight against the surface. Only after that do the abutment and final crown go on. Cost and timeline both move with bone condition, so a straightforward site with good volume is a different project from one needing a graft or a sinus lift, and no honest estimate exists before the scan.

Day-to-day general work runs alongside the surgical side. The office scans with an iTero unit instead of trays of impression putty, mills same-day CEREC crowns chairside, and is an Invisalign Premier Provider. KoR whitening is available for natural enamel, though it will not lighten existing crowns, bonding or veneers, which have to be replaced to match. Dental fear is treated here as a solvable obstacle rather than a character flaw, so sedation is on the menu, and it is often what gets someone back through the door after a long absence. Night guards and NTI devices handle the grinding and jaw-pain end of the caseload.

Practical notes: hours run Monday through Thursday, 8am to 4pm, with no Friday coverage. The practice is fee-for-service and out of network with all plans, and it does not bill Medicaid or Medicare, so raise the in-house payment plan and third-party financing early rather than late. Parking in this part of the Northeast is far simpler than anything downtown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Pennsylvania Center for Dental Excellence take dental insurance?
The office is fee-for-service and out of network with every plan, and it does not bill Medicaid or Medicare. In practice that means you settle the fee with the practice directly, and whatever comes back afterward depends on your policy's out-of-network benefits. For larger treatment the office offers an in-house payment plan as well as third-party financing, so it is worth having that conversation at the consultation rather than after the treatment plan is written.
How long does a single dental implant take from start to finish?
Plan on months rather than weeks. If the tooth still needs removing, extraction and any socket grafting come first, followed by roughly three to four months of healing. The titanium post is placed next and needs its own integration period while bone grows tightly against it. The abutment and final crown finish the sequence. A site with good bone volume moves faster than one needing a graft or a sinus lift, and the scan is what tells you which case you have.
Can I get a crown in one appointment here?
Often, yes. The practice uses CEREC, which scans the prepared tooth, designs the restoration on screen and mills it from a ceramic block in the office while you wait, so the crown is bonded the same day instead of two or three weeks later in a temporary. Not every tooth qualifies, since a molar that has lost a lot of structure may need a core build-up or a lab-fabricated crown, but many cracked cusps and failed fillings finish in a single visit.

Having very extreme anxiety, my visit was absolutely the best dental experience I have ever had. Every single person is caring, understanding, and compassionate.

Dr. Han and and the entire staff are wonderful. They do excellent work. I started this journey in 2010 and I could not be happier with the results. They are great to deal with and I still feel the same way today as I did in 2010.

I found this office on the internet when I was looking for a special way to assess my bite and a possible need for straightening. I wanted to be seen before an upcoming surgery, so Mina got me in quickly. I had a thorough exam using very modern technology, and I was given all the time needed to ask about my concerns. Dr. Han, and her assistant, Michele, took a real interest in helping me out. I left feeling confident in the next steps. Also, I don't have insurance and for the amount of time, the scan and x-rays taken, the fee was extremely reasonable.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Han and her team. I came in with a complicated dental situation that involved Invisalign, veneers, crowns, and implantd and it ended up taking longer than expected because of several issues and delays along the way. Through all of it, Dr. Han truly went above and beyond. She was patient, thorough, and always took the time to explain every step and every option. Even when plans had to change, she stayed focused on getting the best outcome. It was not the fastest or easiest one. The attention to detail with my bite, comfort, and final look was incredible. She also made sure I felt supported the entire process, and her team was responsive and kind whenever I had questions. If you’re looking for a dentist who is skilled, honest, and genuinely cares (especially for more complex cases), I 100% recommend Dr. Han. I’m very grateful and happy with my results.

Staff is so friendly and helpful on how to get the best results with the entire teeth whitening process. I've been researching on where to go for teeth whitening and I'm so glad I came here. The results are amazing, I'm so happy with how easy the entire process was! They also did work on my teeth and Dr.Han was able to fix my tooth with meticulous care. I usually dread going to the dentist, but loved everything about this place!
