About Periodontal Health Center

Periodontal Health Center operates on West Fletcher Avenue in Tampa, Florida. Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Periodontal Health Center located in Tampa?
Periodontal Health Center is on West Fletcher Avenue in Tampa, Florida (33612).
What days is Periodontal Health Center open?
Periodontal Health Center is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Periodontal Health Center offer?

Is gum disease reversible?
The early stage, gingivitis, is reversible with thorough cleaning and better daily plaque control. Once it has progressed to periodontitis and bone around the teeth has been lost, that bone does not grow back — treatment then aims to halt further loss.
What are the early signs of gum disease?
Gums that bleed when brushing or flossing, redness and puffiness along the gumline, and persistent bad breath are the usual first indicators. Bleeding is the one most often dismissed, and it is the clearest early warning.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

Was scheduled to be seen by these folks and waited a half hour past the scheduled time of the appointment before leaving. Given I’m trusting these people with my health, if they can’t even get their scheduling right there’s no way I’m sitting in their chair. Do not recommend.

Had my first visit with Periodontal Health Center yesterday and left very happy. From my first contact with them, setting up my appointment, I was impressed with the young lady on the phone. Every person I had contact with yesterday mirrored that great positive personality. I am looking forward to the work we plan on accomplishing in the future. I learned a lot about my dental options and expect that to continue.

Periodontal Health Center on Fletcher is great. I use Dr. Stilley as my periodontist and Erin is my dental hygienist. Both are caring, gentle and thorough. Don’t be afraid to go.

I came here after a bad experience elsewhere. I was just seeking a second opinion and for someone to speak with me and actually explain my treatment options. I am so glad I came here. Dr. Mashkouri actually listened to my concerns and thoroughly answered my questions. While the answer was not what I wanted to hear lol (still need to get my wisdom teeth removed at 45, sigh), I now feel confident that it is medically necessary, not just something that’s being pushed on me. She was very thorough, patient and noticeably empathetic and caring. Thank you!!
