Dr. Kelsey Edmondson holds a master's in periodontics from the UT School of Dentistry in Houston, with research work on implants in the esthetic zone — the front of the mouth, where a millimetre of gum position separates an implant nobody notices from one everybody does.
Most patients arrive because of gum disease, so it is worth knowing what the treatment actually does. Bacteria collect below the gum line, the body's inflammatory response gradually dissolves the bone holding the tooth, and the resulting pocket is deeper than a toothbrush can reach. Scaling and root planing is the non-surgical baseline: the area is numbed and the length of root lying inside that pocket is cleaned off, so tissue has something clean to reattach to. It works, and it has a limit worth hearing plainly: it halts progression, but bone already lost does not generally grow back. What changes afterwards is your maintenance interval, which typically moves from every six months to every three or four months, permanently. That schedule is part of the treatment, not an add-on.
On the surgical side the practice handles implants from a single tooth through to a full arch, including Nobel Biocare All-on-4, along with tissue and bone grafting, ridge preservation after extraction, and complex extractions that a general office would rather not attempt. Planning runs on cone beam CT imaging, which maps bone thickness and the position of the nerve canal and sinus in three dimensions before any drill is picked up. Oral and intravenous conscious sedation are offered for longer or more anxious appointments.
The suite is at 6609 Blanco Road, Suite 125, in North Central San Antonio inside Loop 410, straightforward from Castle Hills, Shavano Park and the Blanco corridor. Clinical days run Monday through Thursday with Friday by arrangement, so plan around a four-day week.

Dr. Sehlke was wonderful! He’s so responsive, patient with questions, and caring. He did so well on my gum grafts that my dentist was very impressed when I returned for my next cleaning. Highly highly recommend. And his staff were always very easy to work with and responsive!
Dr. Sehlke did a fantastic job removing my baby tooth which I still had at 52. He got it out and raised the sinus cavity preparing the space for a new crown. The healing process went very well, and I had no issues at all. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in need of periodontal work!

Dr. Sehlke and his staff are remarkable. So glad I chose to go here to have my last two wisdom teeth removed. From the initial visit, to surgery, all the way through both follow-ups he and his team have made me feel so welcome and taken care of. Interviewed 4 different Periodontist and went with Dr. Edmonson. I absolutely hate the dentist but after my initial consultation she won me over. She has incredible bed side manner. She explained everything with detail answered all my questions. Today was the surgery got 2 extractions done and on the road to recovery for dental implants. Minimal pain with perfect execution. Highly recommend Dr. Edmonson and her staff. You won’t be disappointed.
Dr Sehlke is the best dental specialist to whom I’ve ever been. Besides the excellent care and work he did on my teeth, he was kind, professional, and put me at ease about the procedure.
