About Periodontics Implant Dentistry
Castor Avenue is one of Northeast Philadelphia's main commercial spines, and this periodontal office sits on the third floor at 7601, in the Rhawnhurst and Castor Gardens area within easy reach of Cottman Avenue, Oxford Circle and the Roosevelt Boulevard corridor. For patients across the Northeast it removes the trip downtown and the parking problem that comes with it. The practice is a specialty group rather than a general dental office, with Dr. Tom Fuji, Dr. John Kim, Dr. Eric Brockman, Dr. Taewan Kim, Dr. David Metroka and Dr. Myriam Cerezo covering the full scope of periodontics.
Treating gum disease is the daily work, and the practice covers both ends of it. The conservative route is scaling and root planing: cleaning bacterial deposits from the root surfaces below the gum line, then re-measuring the pockets a few weeks later to see whether the tissue has tightened back against the tooth. Where deep pockets persist, surgical treatment reshapes the bone and repositions the gum so the pockets you are left with are shallow enough to clean at home. That last point is the one patients underestimate. Periodontal surgery does not cure anything permanently; it resets the geometry, and maintenance visits every three to four months are what hold the result in place.
When teeth cannot be saved, implants are placed here as well, including implant-supported dentures for patients who want a lower denture that stays put. Sinus lifts and ridge grafting are done in-house when the bone is too thin or too short to hold an implant. Gum grafting for recession is a large part of the caseload: a receding gum line exposes root surface, which is softer than enamel, decays faster and is frequently the real reason behind cold sensitivity.
The office runs Monday through Thursday only, with 8:30 a.m. starts and a later 6:00 p.m. finish on Thursday for anyone who cannot take time off during the day. There are no Friday or weekend hours. Bring a referral note and recent x-rays if your dentist has them, because periodontal decisions depend on comparing bone levels over time rather than on a single image.

Dr. Fuji and his entire staff were absolutely amazing. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Dr. Fuji demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and showed genuine concern for my condition and the best course of treatment. He clearly explained both the best-case and worst-case scenarios, which made it easy to understand my situation and confidently move forward with his recommendation.
