About Pine Ridge Dental

Three decades at one address buys a dental practice something it cannot advertise: the record. Which molar was filled in 2003 and how deep the preparation went, why a previous crown failed, which side you grind on at night, how quickly you healed the last time a tooth came out. Pine Ridge Dental has looked after Lincoln families from South 56th Street since 1989, and continuity of that kind pays off most in treatments that unfold across months rather than a single visit.

Six dentists work here now, Dr. Tom Tetrick, Dr. Fariba Vakilzadian, Dr. Rich Nolte, Dr. Josh King, Dr. Brent Murphy and Dr. Michael Augustine, covering preventive, cosmetic and restorative dentistry alongside implants, bone grafting, oral surgery, root canal treatment, dentures, full-mouth rehabilitation and Invisalign. CEREC same-day restorations and an interest in airway-focused dentistry round out the range.

Airway dentistry is the least familiar item on that list and the most interesting. It starts from the observation that jaw shape, arch width, and the space behind the tongue affect how well you breathe at night, and that dentists tend to see the evidence first: enamel worn flat by grinding, scalloped borders on the tongue, a narrow palate. It is not a diagnosis of sleep apnea, which belongs to a physician, but it does mean a routine exam here may raise questions a standard checkup would not.

Same-day restorations work by scanning the prepared tooth and milling the crown in the office, so the temporary stage disappears and the tooth is sealed in a single visit. That suits a cracked or heavily filled molar particularly well. Larger cases, and any case where shade matching across several front teeth is critical, still benefit from laboratory work and a second appointment.

The office sits on South 56th Street in the Colonial Hills area of south Lincoln, near the Old Cheney Road corridor, convenient from the neighbourhoods between 40th and 70th and less so from the far north. The schedule is unusually wide for the area: seven in the morning to six in the evening Monday through Thursday, and seven to one on Friday.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is airway-focused dentistry and why would my dentist mention it?
It is an approach that considers how jaw shape, arch width, and the space behind the tongue affect breathing during sleep. Dentists often see the signs before anyone else does: enamel worn by grinding, a scalloped tongue, a narrow palate. Raising it is not a diagnosis of sleep apnea, which is a physician's call after a sleep study, but it can be the reason a referral gets made.
Are the early and late appointment times genuinely available?
The office opens at seven in the morning Monday through Thursday and stays open until six, with Friday running seven to one. That window makes it realistic to fit a cleaning or a filling in before work or at the end of the day without using leave. The earliest and latest slots are the ones most patients want, so they tend to book out further ahead than midday appointments.
How long does an implant take from extraction to finished tooth?
Longer than most people expect. After a tooth is removed, the socket needs time to heal, and if grafting is required that adds months before the post can be placed. Once it is in, the implant fuses with bone over roughly three to six months before the crown is fitted. Straightforward cases move faster, while heavy bone loss, infection, or a sinus lift extends the timeline considerably.

Kevin was excellent in every way! He communicated very clearly at each step in the process of installing a new crown and his attention to even the slightest detail was amazing!

From the front desk scheduler to the medical staff, my experience was outstanding. Dr. Nolte took time to review a current issue and devised a new game plan, as well as treated another issue— some of which was taken care of at the appointment, with the remainder to be resolved next week. Dr. Nolte is kind, an excellent listener, thorough in his work, and doesn’t waste time to address the problem for quick resolve. Also of note, it’s nice all of the dentists work as a team— that there is no ego. If one provider isn’t available and/or another provider can provide appropriate treatment, they simply schedule the patient with that particular provider for treatment. Again, no ego. It’s all about the patient. Great job, PRD! Thank you!

Excellent! Pine Ridge has been a wonderful office attending to all our dental needs. Reception staff is nice and welcoming and helpful with scheduling, very organized. Billing and insurance staff have also helped us with our questions when things get confusing. I have the BEST hygienist, Andi :) she takes good care of my sensitivity, so appreciated! Dr. Rich is so nice and very knowledgeable, specific to the work I need. Everyone is caring and so great to work with! Highly recommend!

Great place! Yesterday was our first visit. Already heads and shoulders above our last Dentist experience. Had our records well in advance, knew what was allowed by our insurance and what wasn't. Seemed to actually have their stuff together - and it was busy, which illustrates theyre serving a lot of people and doing it well. Cozy atmosphere. Really like the staff. Highly recommend.

I came in because I had lost a crown and was also due for a cleaning. Didn’t even get time to sit in the waiting room before the hygienist came to take me to an exam room!!! Not only are they prompt, everyone from the front checkin to the dental assistant to the dentist were friendly and professional. The dentist did a good job of explaining his plan of care, including cost. I especially want to do a shoutout to the hygienist! She put me at ease and was so friendly. She does excellent work. Wish I could remember her name but she does her job with such joy. I have been coming here for over 20 years. It’s a beautiful, comfortable facility. Thank-you Pine Ridge! I highly recommend this office.
