About Point Family Dentistry

Point Family Dentistry provides dental care on France Avenue South in the West Bloomington area of Bloomington, Minnesota. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

Cosmetic dentistry covers treatment aimed primarily at appearance — whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping among the more common options — for patients who are less concerned with a problem that hurts than with how their smile looks day to day. The right combination depends on what specifically you would like to change.

Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training.

Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface. Went in for a follow up on a root canal due to discomfort Dr.B Was rude came straight in blaming me for my discomfort making it very clear it wasn’t his fault from the previous procedure he was rough while attempting to examine. When I mentioned this I was thrown out of the office. Definitely would not recommended this Dentist in this office.

The hygentist and dentist were wonderful. They did a great job and were very pleasant. They do not accept MA. The receptionist wears too much perfume.

I used to go to Point Family Dentistry before Covid. I am dentist phobic and admit I don't like any form of dentistry. I tried a different local dentist and did not like be hounded. I decided to go back to Point. Upon first walking in, it seemed that it had "aged". I also noticed as I went back for a cleaning that, that area too seemed to have "aged". I REALLY liked the technician that cleaned my teeth (Sarah). She was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. I was indifferent about the actual dentist (as I have this phobia), but he was very knowledgeable and explained things well, to me). I wish the whole office looked more up to date and inviting.

The care here was the best I have experienced at a dentist office. Sarah, the dental hygienist was so patient and did everything with such great care and compassion. From the start to the end of my visit I felt well cared for, educated and like a had a team around me who truly wanted the best for me.
