They never answer the phone I’m always being sent to the call center when my problem is directly with this location. I had an consultation I was told that it would take 5 business days for them to get back to me to see if my insurance will approve for my braces it has been 2 months exactly and I’ve called my insurance a claim has never been sent to them I cannot get in contact with this office for nothing I wasted my time going to the consultation
I don't know where the hell they get the orthodontist techs from but they are HORRIBLE! My son has been going here three years and the wires on the braces aren't cut like they are supposed to be. This happened to him twice and now he's home on the weekends with him gums bleeding. So now my wife has to cut metal out of his mouth she's a auto mechanic because of their negligence. Also they do not practice safe hygiene from patient to patient. Wash your hands and use gloves BEFORE picking up instruments on patients!
The front desk receptionist was very informative and the wait was not long at all. My 7 year old was quite nervous, but she was calmed by the dental assistants. Also the dentist was very gentle with her. The Porter Dental team did an awesome job.
Terrible everytime I come. They never have the tv’s on to keep us entertained for the hour or three wait. My appointment for my kids was at 9:15 and another at 10 I been here since 9:07 and it’s now 10:14 and I’m still sitting in this library of a lobby waiting to be called back which will take another hour or two back there. They slow, they talk about other stuff with their coworkers but can not get patients in on time. It’s now 10:16 and they are just now going to the back. I’m sure I’ll be in here until 12pm due to the lack of curiosity for the parents or their time. Exactly why I have to take a whole day off at work because scheduling is a joke. We don’t get seen on time and then things get prolonged in the back and once they’re done chatting it up, I realize I’ve been at a dentist office for over 4 hours! That’s insane. Make this location walk in only because that’s exactly what it gives. First come first serve type treatment instead of by appointments. Won’t be back
The atmosphere in the dentist office was amazing. Staff warm and welcoming, and the Dentist that saw me for my visit showed such a high level of professionalism even with the heavy pace of the office. Outside of the many reasons I’m sure I will be returning and recommending this Dentistry office to family and friends was that of the Dental Assistant that wasted me with my visit. That younglady spilled professionalism, gentle, informative, above and beyond, and her tone was so inviting opening up to her I’m sure is a breeze for patients that’s visits this office. That younglady gets a 10 star ⭐️ from me and I’m sure other patients must agree. If you are looking for a Dentist office for yourself or family give Porters Dentist a try they will not disappoint. 😊
The wait was about 2hrs, but that wasn’t a big deal. I have Medicaid this year and noticed a cavity, so I utilized Maryland Healthy Smiles and went here. My cleaning went well, I felt the assistant did a great job, but after my X-Rays, the dentist told me I had 6 cavities. I told her I wanted to look into getting a second opinion at the location my mom works at, which is my right, and that I would feel more comfortable just doing the work on the tooth I was having a problem with at the next appointment, rather than all “6”. She said verbatim that this was okay. I told the woman at the front desk about the treatment plan and scheduled for the next week. I take off work to go to the next appointment the following week, I remind the woman at the front desk of the work the dentist last week said was fine, and she told me to mention it when I got in the chair. I get in the chair, remind a dental assistant that I was only getting work on the cavity that day, she goes back to talk to the dentist, and the dentist comes out. She tells me that if I’m going somewhere else to get a second opinion, I should just get all of the work done there. She refused service. I felt that she was personally offended, but I was also confused because I thought this was a professional environment. Why was I told to make the appointment and waste 3 hours if they weren’t going to fill the cavity? I asked for all of my documents and records to be sent to my new dentist’s office and they sent my X-Rays as a PDF. I’m not sure why we thought this was the appropriate format. They were not viewable and I felt like this was a personal dig. In conclusion, I had to get all new xrays, a new examination, and only one cavity was found. I’m disappointed, but I am not angry. For my job, I accept Medicaid clients, I KNOW that Medicaid pays in crumbs. It’s definitely frustrating. I know that it would not be lucrative to only fill one cavity per patient, billing Medicaid for unnecessary work is the only way to pay staff and keep the lights on, this is the reality. The only thing I can say is that I am glad the staff were cordial throughout this process, I also didn’t push it. I know what it is, this is the reality, and I expected this. I recommend anyone with Maryland healthy smiles to consider dental work at a dentistry school if needed, or consider dental offices with a yearly membership, much cheaper than paying out of pocket without insurance. Some offices also do payment plans. You have options!
This was my kids and I first visit at Porter Dental and we really did enjoy. Thank you to the woman in the front and thank you to the woman in the back of the dentist. Dr. Brown and her team are professional, patient and they get you in and out in a timely manner. We definitely will be back.
