About Premier Orthodontics - San Francisco

Premier Orthodontics - San Francisco is a dental practice on Mission Street in the Mission District area of San Francisco, California. Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth and corrects bite problems using braces, clear aligners, or similar appliances over a period that commonly runs from about a year to several years depending on the case. It is offered to both children, where early evaluation can catch developing issues, and adults at any age.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. What is the difference between an orthodontist and a general dentist doing braces?
An orthodontist has completed additional years of specialist training focused specifically on tooth movement and bite correction, beyond the general dental degree. Some general dentists also offer braces or aligners after extra training.
How do I know if I need orthodontic treatment?
Visible crowding or gaps are the obvious signs, but bite problems — teeth not meeting correctly, jaw discomfort, or uneven wear — are just as common a reason, and those are best assessed in person.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

Yesterday I felt welcomed from the Dr, he was nice and kind. I was surprised because he introduced himself . I wish all the Doctors who are being working in this area will be able to be like that.

This places doesn’t deserve a star, just because the availability for Emergencies for there pt. My son broke his bracket and the nurse looked and said to wait for his upcoming apt which is useless since I could have just waited until the date to fix it.

Getting great Invisalign treatment from Dr Ma. Office is always packed with people though, and often have to wait even first thing in the morning. As a whole the clinic seems overbooked and understaffed. Dr Ma and Maria are the reason I continue treatment here.

The staff is amazing, willing to help when needed, goes above and beyond every visit for my children's. Any time I need clarification, documents or request for have all 3 of my children's appointment booked all at once, they are willing to accommodate long as it's available.

I had a great experience at this ortho office. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The assistant Maria is very kind, professional, and dedicated to her work. Dr. Choi provides excellent care and makes patients feel comfortable during their visits. I’m very pleased with the attention and service I received. 10/10, highly recommend!

If you can go somewhere else. Wait times are long, expect when they take your money now then they will see you immediately. Staff is okay I know it not their fault but they see way too many patients and don’t have enough staff or doctors.
