About Prosthetic Dentistry of Washington DC: Dr. Gerald M. Marlin
Prosthetic Dentistry of Washington DC: Dr. Gerald M. Marlin is a dental practice on Jenifer Street Northwest in the Northwest Washington area of Washington, District of Columbia. Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. You can reach Prosthetic Dentistry of Washington DC: Dr. Gerald M. I have grinded my teeth as long as I can remember. I didn't start wearing a night guard unit my 30s. By then a lot of damage had occurred. By my 60s, my teeth were severely worn. My dentist told me I would need all of my teeth crowned. I did a lot of online research. Dr. Marlin's name came up again and again as the top rated dentist for this. When I met him for the first time, he was very honest about what it would take to restore my teeth. Periodontal work, root canals and then the crowns themselves. The final result is spectacular. Dr. Marlin is one of a kind. Years of experience. A true master craftsman/artist/professional. I couldn't be more pleased . I spent over 80 hours in the dentist chair. I had to drive 2+ hours each way. I used almost all of my vacation time. After it was all completed, my wife asked me if I would I do it again? I told her I would in a heart beat
Dr. Marlin is a real pro. I first went to him after I had a failed dental implant at another practice. He was able to rebuild my bone and successfully place another implant. That was nearly ten years ago and I'm still a happy patient.
Dr. Marlin and his team are a highly professional outfit that knows exactly what they are doing in dealing with complex jaw issues. He meticulously undertook a multistep process to help relieve longstanding jaw tension and headaches I was dealing with. Can't recommend his practice enough.
Improper advertising. went there for free evaluations upon the advertising but there’s nothing free about it, they asked me to pay for x-ray and evaluation fee. When I pointed out advertise, says free, they send me to talk to dentist assistant.
I've been Dr. Marlin's patient since 1983. Over these years, his professional and skilled approach have served me well. During these 40+ years, he has successfully done crowns, bridges, bone grafts, and numerous implants. I can't say enough about the competence and proficiency of Dr. Marlin, his assistants and his staff - it takes a team working well together to deliver the excellent care they provide. I moved from the D.C. area in 2005. Since then, I've "commuted" many hours to the office, first from the Eastern Shore of Virginia and currently from Pennsylvania. Should I relocate again, I'll continue as Elite Prosthetic Dentistry's patient.
I cannot praise Dr Marlin and his team enough. My teeth were in very poor condition after oral radiation treatments together with several orthopaedic problems that made trips to dentists difficult. Dr Marlin did a very thorough and careful assessment, designed a total mouth rehabilitation plan, and referred me to very competent specialists for the required extractions and root canals. He and his team designed a plan for the needed prosthetic devices to replace some of my teeth and rehabilitated other teeth to accept crowns. In the end I have an attractive smile again and a feeling of confidence that my teeth are a solid platform for chewing. Throughout the team spent time to be sure I was comfortable and pain free. Thank You!!
I have been a patient of Dr. Marlin and Elite Prosthetic Dentistry for over 40 years. Dr. Marlin is a superb dentist, and everyone in the office is highly professional, capable, and incredibly nice to deal with. I highly recommend this dental practice and wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Dr. Marlin and the team are simply incredible and the DMV area is lucky to have them. They truly saved me from going down a path of getting an implant with another dentist that mislead and guided me in the wrong direction and I am so glad I found them before it was too late. An implant was not a good option for me and thankfully they did the proper imaging and CT scans to prove that the previous guidance at another office was wrong. I am forever grateful for this entire team! I am so happy with my smile now and they've given me confidence that I have not had when smiling in nearly 20 years! I am from the Washington, DC area and everyone should go see them as soon as you can, for ANY dental needs. Dr. Marlin is incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and patient. I have never seen a dentist be so meticulous in detail and care so deeply about the smallest thing, it was refreshing and incredible to witness being in an area that often times treats their patients like transactions. If I did not know any better, I would have thought this office was in the Deep South or Midwest somewhere because of how kind and attentive they were to every single person. Each person in this office is SO knowledgeable about everything - even the staff who are not licensed dental professionals have taken the time to learn about every procedure and are able to explain in great detail. They collaborate constantly and you can feel the sense of family and warmth that exudes that minute you walk in the door. I do not leave many reviews that often, but if I could put this office on a billboard and up in lights in Times Square, I would in a second because of how talented and kind the entire team truly is. That is so rare in healthcare today - do not walk to this office, RUN because you will than yourself later once you do.
It’s been 5 years since I got my front tooth implant and 5 others teeth crowns (3 front teeth crowns, and 1 front tooth implant and crown, and 2 back teeth crowns). And I owe Dr. Marlin a positive feedback and a review about him and his amazing skills. After 5 years of having my teeth done by Dr. Gerald Marlin. All my teeth is still brand new as it was the day I had them done. The implant tooth is even way way stronger than all my real teeth. And the beauty is exceptional and very natural. I’m sorry to say this to all you who read this review but are not Dr. Marlin clients. All you who think your current dentists are good. I tell you that your current dentists are not even worth tying Dr. Marlin shoe laces in comparison to skills. I’ve been a life long dental patient and I lived to prove it. Dr. Marlin skills surpass way beyond all the best dentists you could think of when it comes to implants and crowns. I am telling the truth, no exaggeration added. Thank you for reading.
