About Red Dirt Orthodontics

Red Dirt Orthodontics provides dental care on Northwest Expressway in the Northwest Oklahoma City area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into alignment, handling complex bite corrections and significant crowding more predictably than removable alternatives. Treatment commonly runs one to three years, with a retainer worn afterward to hold the result.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. How long do braces take to straighten teeth?
Commonly somewhere between one and three years, depending on how much movement is needed. Mild crowding resolves considerably faster than a case involving significant bite correction.

Kenzlie had a lot of anxiety coming to her appts to get braces . However , this environment and sweet techs like Esme calm everything down. We have always enjoyed our okc office ! I plan to bring our other kiddos here as they reach age for braces !

Five stars isn't enough! Esme was absolutely amazing. She is incredibly nice and took the time to clearly explain exactly how braces work. She made the entire process so easy to understand and comfortable. Thank you, Esme, for the fantastic care and for being so thorough! Highly recommend! 👍👍 From Rakina

When we 1st got my son's braces put on they were great but his Doctor left and now it has gone down hill. Staff is rude and the new doctor and staff are not very informative. I have had to ask every single time now are we still doing the bands? What's the update? The Doctor does not talk to you and just looks at the kids teeth and mumbles to staff and walks away. This has caused my child to have to have his braces on months longer for no reason. They also charged me for when my son broke his bracket three times for emergency appts when they are the ones who didnt close his bracket. They also way over book. When we first went there we could get appts easily but now my son has to wait a month and half to get his braces off when they were suppose to be off today. Have my other son who needs braces and I will not use them again.

I chose this orthodontist mainly because several coworkers recommended the office after having positive experiences themselves. From the first consultation, I understood why people spoke highly about them. The orthodontist listens carefully and explains treatment in a way that feels honest and easy to understand. My Invisalign process has gone smoothly overall, although adjusting to wearing aligners nearly all day definitely took discipline at first. One set of trays arrived later than expected due to shipping delays, but the office communicated clearly the entire time and adjusted my schedule without any confusion. I’m already seeing a huge improvement in my lower teeth alignment and even my bite feels more comfortable now while eating. I honestly wish I had started treatment years earlier instead of putting it off so long.

Had an appointment with Estela for my braces on Monday at 3:00 PM. She was fantastic to work with, made the whole process very easy. I was stressed about my ortho appointment but she made it much less stressful with her chatty and positive attitude. Highly recommended.
