About Redwood Pediatric Dentistry

Families in Taylorsville, Murray, West Jordan, and the Bennion neighborhoods can reach this office without touching a freeway: it sits on Redwood Road just south of 6200 South, on the arterial that carries the whole west-central valley north and south. Salt Lake Community College's Redwood campus is a few minutes up the road, the I-215 belt route is a short hop north, and the Jordan River Parkway runs behind the corridor to the west. The practice is in Suite 201, so plan on an elevator or a flight of stairs with a stroller. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday and close at 4:00 p.m., with Friday running mornings only until noon, a schedule built around school pickup rather than around working parents' evenings.

Drs. Jason Horgesheimer, Chase Hardy, David Lawrence, and JD Reimschiissel see children exclusively, and the practice has gone deep on one procedure most general offices refer out: laser release of tongue and lip ties. A restrictive lingual frenum tethers the tongue to the floor of the mouth and limits how far it can lift, which can show up as a shallow latch, a clicking sound during feeding, nipple pain, or slow weight gain in an infant. A soft-tissue laser divides the band in seconds and cauterizes as it goes, so bleeding is minimal and sutures are not needed. Release alone rarely fixes feeding by itself. Stretching exercises during healing keep the tissue from reattaching, and most families do better pairing the procedure with lactation support, because not every difficult latch is caused by a tie.

The rest of the week is standard pediatric work, including exams, cleanings, sealants, and fillings. Sedation is kept in-house for the child who simply cannot sit through a procedure while awake, whether the obstacle is being too young to cooperate, outright fear, or a sensory profile that makes a dental chair overwhelming. Spanish-speaking doctors and staff are on the team, and the office accepts most insurance plans including Medicaid, with a coverage check available by phone before you book. Treatment rooms are themed and there is a play area. A sister office, South Davis Pediatric Dentistry, operates in Bountiful.

A children's-only dental office on Redwood Road in Taylorsville, known for soft-tissue laser release of tongue and lip ties alongside routine exams, sealants, and fillings. In-house sedation, Spanish-speaking doctors and staff, and Medicaid acceptance make it workable for families who would otherwise be sent to a surgical center.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you treat tongue and lip ties in newborns?
Yes. The practice uses a soft-tissue laser to release restrictive lingual and labial frenums, including in infants who are struggling to latch. The laser divides the tissue in seconds and cauterizes as it works, so bleeding is minimal and stitches are not needed. Aftercare matters as much as the release: stretching exercises during healing prevent reattachment, and pairing the visit with lactation support gives the clearest picture of whether the tie was the real problem.
What sedation options are available for an anxious child?
Sedation is offered in-house, which means a child who cannot get through fillings awake does not automatically have to be referred to a surgical center. The appropriate level depends on age, how much treatment is needed, and medical history, and it is decided at the consultation rather than in advance. Bring any medication list and diagnosis history to that visit, since sensory and developmental factors shape the recommendation as much as the amount of work does.
Do you accept Medicaid?
The office accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid, and will check your specific coverage over the phone before you come in. That check is worth doing for pediatric work, because plans differ sharply on how they handle sealants, fluoride, stainless steel crowns, and sedation even when the basic exam and cleaning are fully covered. Ask about sedation coverage specifically if that is likely to be part of the plan.

Redwood Pediatrics is the best dentist I have found! The front staff is super friendly and the dentists are all amazing. They also have great communication with patients and their parents, letting you know everything they are doing and providing step by step updates. The kids also love to play in the treehouse they have in the waiting room. Additionally we had a billing issue with insurance for about a year and they worked with me to get it settled. Overall 10/10 great experience here! If you’re in the market for a pediatric dentistry you definitely have to come here.

We love Dr. Jason! He has taken care of my kids from day one. We have been in good hands for 22 years. My last kid has one appointment left before he graduates from a pediatric practice. Everyone here has been so helpful and competent! We will miss Redwood Pediatrics and the treehouse in the waiting room.

Best dental office around! I have been coming here for 15 years and have loved it. The dentists are super friendly and great with kids. Dr Jason, Dr Chuck and Dr Chase know exactly what they are doing and are so compassionate and patient with the kids! The assistants are great too! Shan, Shar and Megan have been there forever and always make it such a positive experience for us. The front desk is amazing too! Tonya always has excellent answers to my questions and Nicole and Ashley are so patient when I’m trying to schedule return appointments! Overall 10/10 would recommend!

I brought my two boys in to Redwood Pediatrics and could not be happier with my decision! I did a lot of research to find an office because my 5 year old gets really anxious. From the moment we entered the office, we were greeted with smiles! The play area is amazing and my boys loved getting to get their wiggles out before going back! Kaitlyn was our assistant as seriously a ROCK STAR!! She took so much time to just out my boys at ease! She showed them the fish and let them pick their shows to watch. My older son was acting very anxious and she was so calm and patient! 🥹 as a mom, that meant so much! Dr. Chase was also incredible and was very accommodating with my anxious son. They kept a it very non-chalant and no pressure! I could not recommend this office enough! So so happy to have found them!

Great staff. They treat the kids so well. They have handled cleanings, x rays, and minor oral surgery for us all with not issues. They are very knowledgeable and have helped us build better habits for the kids. We have been coming here for years and will continue to come back.
