About Reza Malekzadeh, DDS

Reza Malekzadeh, DDS is a dental practice on Long Beach Boulevard in the Bixby North area of Long Beach, California. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. I met Dr. Malek through Dr. James to have a tooth pulled, bone graph, and have an implant put in. I have “white coat syndrome”.when ever I see a doctor or dentist, my blood pressure goes through the roof. I told Dr. Malek about my condition. He told me there was nothing to fear or be afraid of. That I was in good hands. I broke down crying. When Dr. Malek pulled my tooth, he made sure that I was completely numbed up before he started the extraction. During the proceedure, he was extremely gentle. He talked to me through every step of the process while he was cleaning the area and putting in a bone graph. I was so completely at ease that I almost fell asleep during the operation. Before I knew it, it was over. He was right. There was nothing to worry about. I truly was in good hands with Dr. Malek. I highly recommend Dr. Malek to anyone with dental issues. Thank you Dr. Malek for being so kind and gentle, and understanding. Victoria Ballard.

Dr Reza, did a great job doing surgery on my gums! I felt completely comfortable with him during the surgery process even though I’m a scary cat when it comes to any dental work! It healed real fast he was really friendly and kind and really understanding as well. He’s really professional. And he’s office is nice and clean and he’s staff friendly and nice.

Went to dr malek for gum grafting I had been putting off for a few years. He was patient with me, when the anesthesia he initially gave me didn't work he injected more and we patiently waited, didn't feel like he rushed at all even though I'm the one who needed breaks more than anything. Work came out great, he is a sculptor at gum grafting. A patient man.

Dr. Malek was able to squeeze me in to fix an incomplete job from a prior oral surgery. He was kind and patient, explaining his process and approach, and genuinely had the most deliberate and delicate control of any dentist I have ever had! I will absolutely be back because of this first encounter. The staff is very friendly as well and everything is pristine!
