About Risas Dental and Braces - Mesa

Risas Dental and Braces - Mesa is a dental practice on East Main Street in Mesa, Arizona. Clear aligners straighten teeth through a series of custom, removable trays, each worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the sequence. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well, and are worn roughly twenty to twenty-two hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule.

Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into alignment, handling complex bite corrections and significant crowding more predictably than removable alternatives. Treatment commonly runs one to three years, with a retainer worn afterward to hold the result.

Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth and corrects bite problems using braces, clear aligners, or similar appliances over a period that commonly runs from about a year to several years depending on the case. It is offered to both children, where early evaluation can catch developing issues, and adults at any age.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. How many hours a day do I need to wear clear aligners?
Around twenty to twenty-two hours daily is the usual instruction — effectively all the time except when eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth. Treatment slows noticeably if that is not kept to.
Can clear aligners fix any orthodontic problem?
They handle mild to moderate crowding and spacing well. Complex bite corrections and large tooth movements are still often better suited to fixed braces, which is something an assessment will clarify.
What age is best for braces?
Assessment around age seven is often suggested so developing problems can be spotted, though treatment itself usually starts later once enough adult teeth are through. Adults can be treated at any age provided the gums and bone are healthy.

I’ve been to this location many times and have been seeing Dr. York. Dr. York has great bedside manners, explains diagnoses and procedures in an understandable manner, and checks in multiple times during procedures to make sure I was ok. During one visit, he was assisted by Brenda who was very patient and knowledgeable about a crown placement. She took very good care making sure that I was comfortable with how the crown was sitting. Overall, this Risas location has always been excellent with their prompt service, attentive staff, and skilled dentists. Highly recommend!

I would definitely recommend Risas Dental to my family and friends. From the moment I walked in, Omar greeted me with a genuine smile and made me feel welcome. I hadn’t been to the dentist in years, and honestly, I was a little embarrassed about that, but Dr. York was so kind and never made me feel judged. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel comfortable throughout the visit. Mirna was also amazing—she carefully explained all of the payment plan options and made sure I understood everything before I left. The entire staff was friendly, patient, and professional. Overall, I had a really great experience and am so glad I chose Risas Dental.

Had a great experience here with Dr. Larry. He's very kind and good at what he does. I would recommend him 10/10. Also you can't beat the price on the braces, getting them removed and getting retainers. Great service at a good price. Would recommend.
