Be sure to confirm EVERYTHING with your insurance unless you're okay with a random bill a month later saying you owe over a grand. I thought the document was a pre-determination as it has listed on there what your insurance will pay. Well, River Rock Dental didn't send it to my insurance and just made up numbers. They lied. I already paid $700 upon receipt of service. I'm highly stressed and worried. I call and leave messages and it's hard to get a call back and once I did speak with the office manager Jennifer she didn't seem to care and wouldn't admit there might be a mistake. I'm in a real headache with your insurance company. Update: my insurance verified they never verified anything with them. And my insurance verified that the clinic is not charging in alignment with the contract between insurance and the clinic. And Jennifer seems to be refusing to speak with them and re-examine the bill. And if she hands you a paper to look at to explain the pricing, even if she's already written all over it like it's scrap paper don't dare write on it yourself with the numbers you have or she'll get upset and snatch it right from you giving you a papercut like she did to me and act like she wants to fight. She's a strange, sad, little woman.
Amazing practice!
Bait and switch. Don't use this dental office unless you like getting extra charges. They gave me an estimate, did the work, I paid in full and then got an extra $290 bill sent to me a few weeks later. I checked my treatment plan I never signed anything that said I was responsible for the payment if their estimate was incorrect. Incompetent and bad business practices.
i gave this place a 5 star review but i have to change it after several rude interactions. several front desk staffs are miserable and disrespectful. i made the mistake of getting orthodontic care here, not because my dr is bad but because everything else is just terrible. the front is very quick to shut you down if you even mention the word ortho, i guess because it’s a different system but come on yall, get it together. it is the same front desk staff after all! and from a patients perspective, it’s all under the same roof, so have some grace with us. there is a massive disconnect and customer service does not exist anymore. i noticed many months ago on my portal, my semi annual x rays, cleaning, and exam was CANCELLED (no one notified me, no one rescheduled me btw) so i called they told me the appt was still standing. last week after an invisalign check up, i go and ask them again and they told me the same. today i receive a text to call about the appointment and they just told me “i don’t know why they’d text you” okay well figure it out? took 20 minutes to reschedule a basic, routine appointment and now there’s a month delay. i questioned her and she said “yeah no one was checking on the schedule” … so yall lost a provider and weren’t rescheduling those patients? what the crap kind of standard is that? i work in a clinical setting myself and that’s diabolical. i’m very on top of my oral health and appointments. i have some serious concerns i was looking forward to addressing that have been very nerve wracking for me but now there’s an entire additional month i have to hold out due to their incompetence. my previous review which no longer stands: sometimes i forget what incredible service is like because it seems rare these days. thank you to the staff (michelle, dr estrada, front desk) for being so friendly and helpful and positive. it does not go unnoticed!
My experience at River Rock Dental was overall mediocre, with some significant issues that made it frustrating and disappointing. The biggest concern is the scheduling and lack of convenience—especially for orthodontic appointments. Orthodontic services are only available on very limited days, typically Tuesdays or Fridays, and not even after 3 PM. The last appointment is around 2 PM, despite the clinic closing at 4 PM, which feels insufficient. This setup is highly inconvenient for patients who work during those hours or have changing schedules. There are no weekend options either, making it even harder to reschedule when conflicts come up. It feels like patients are expected to adjust their lives around the clinic’s limited availability, which isn’t practical. The clinic itself is decent, but the lack of flexible scheduling really affects the overall experience. Compared to other offices that offer orthodontic services more days of the week or even on weekends, this feels very restrictive. Because of these limitations, I can’t fully recommend this clinic.
I want to take a moment to share my experience. I came to this place after an appointment, to clean my teeth because first, they needed it and second, I had a filling on the tip of my tooth that got stained and I thought with the cleaning was going to be enough. Got there, and the usual, we got a grumpy lady, the same curly hair mentioned in other reviews, I was asked to seat and wait and I did, for 1 hour and 32 minutes in an empty location I waited. Go to get the x-ray, that with this people it's super challenging because they try to use a technology that they even understand and instead of making the process smooth, it's excruciating and painful and long with a technician that obviously lacks experience. After another 40 minutes struggling with x-rays, como the doctor who barely looks and says "yeah, just give her a regular cleaning" and left the room. She advised to get some work because my gums are "eating" my gums, and to get my filling replaced, which I unfortunately agreed. The grumpy lady from the beginning didn't want to book me for the feeling until I go and take care of my gums, wait, WHAT? Who are you to impose things on me? Anyway, paid, and came back at 12:14 next Monday May the 4th. If this place have an administration, they probably could look into the cameras to see the other front desk lady yelling at me when I asked what did she mean when she sent me to go and wait. This time, because I got there late so they "needed to clean". Well, my appointment was initially at 1, and they called to change it. Anyways, a couple of important notes to consider before putting your life in the hands on these people: 1. The technician started, with a qtip spreading something on ny gums and when I asked, she gave me this childish response "is just something to numb.." what?? 2. The doctor came abd grabbed a syringe that I am not seeing and know nothing about, and when is about to pinch me I asked what she was doing and she said "is just to numb a bit". When I screamed out of pain, I asked if she was giving me anesthesia and she said "oh yeah, is just a bit". I have the syringe plunged into my gums and I am trying articulate some questions about why is she giving me anesthesia to replace a filling and she said it was the nomal procedure. I am questioning about this as I have gotten the filling replaced a couple of times in the last 27 years and never in my whole 44 years olr life had I have any anesthesia in any dental procedure. Now, the doctor is out of the room, and my heart beats started to speed up, I had a terrible headache, and a strong chest pressure, so I asked the doctor's helper to measure my blood pressure again, which went sky rocketing. I started complaining about this procedure and how is possible that they just go and shot you a syringe of anesthesia without prior consent. I ridiculously attempted to explain to this ignorant and inexperienced person that I am on a high dosage of hormonal replacement of strogens (which works as a acelerator) and progesterone (which increases my sensory capacity at the max), but worse than that, I am on a high levels of prescribed stimulants. I tried explaining to this person how they could harm me or even kill me, and in her ignorance and lack of professionalism - because what authority does she has to give any medical advice?-, she said "oh no worries, it would go away, they don't interact!" 😐 Doctor came and said my blood pressure went up because I got scared and stressed with the syringe. She finished the procedure and I want to say and show with pictures how this "professional" bypassed my filling (see the picture from 11/14/2017) and instead removed a big chunk of the top of my own tooth and did a terrible job that won't allow me to even floss my teeth. The pictures shall explain the rest. Thanks God my boyfriend is a prestigious lawyer in Austin, we will be starting a legal case against this practice. (TSBDE) rule 108.7
This staff is the absolute best! Dr. Embry is fantastic. She took the time to explain my options, shared costs up front, and gave me advice on how to maintain good dental health. Sonia the receptionist was very kind. Crystal the dental assistant was so helpful, accommodating, and hilarious. And Victoria the dental hygienist went above and beyond, giving me advice and teaching me how to better take care of my teeth, all while making me laugh and feel at ease. I'm so happy I found this team!
I came in about 9:57a.m. on my way to some where, and Stopped in just to INQUIRE if this location accepted my insurance. A lady with curly have she nice nasty. I showed her my insurance card to see it was accepted? She reads my Humana HMO out loud as if she embarrassed me by doing this. The embarrassing part was that at your age that you are still employed and HAVING to work no be relaxing like I was doing when just occasionally stopping in. It said how people are being deported and taken from their families yet you turn the way a potential customer at a business that you don't own and sacrificing the dentist money approval point to your ego. And my HMO insurance He rode me from Round Rock to Austin They also feed me on the 1st of every month and I also have no coffee or co-payments no payments for prescriptions so if you thought you was embarrassing me he wasn't and I know exactly how to find a dentist too bad your dentist missed out that you for 😏 It's important how y'all dentist professional know who's at your front desk Because they behavior takes money out your pocket and food out your kids mouth.
I just want to thank Victoria my dental hygienist for doing such an EXCELLENT job on cleaning my teeth and being so patient with me, because I was acting like a big grown baby!😳 She talked to me as she was cleaning my teeth and made me feel comfortable. This was the best cleaning I EVER HAD! She got down deep under my gums cleaning everything out and she didn’t hold back!!! She is very professional and knowledgeable about her job! I am now recommending my daughter and all my friends to see her and no one else! Thank you so much, I am so pleased…
