About Riverside Children's Dentistry

Riverside Children's Dentistry is a dental practice on Arlington Avenue in the Magnolia Center area of Riverside, California. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. What does a paediatric dentist do differently?
They complete additional training focused on children — how teeth develop, how to manage anxiety and behaviour in the chair, and conditions specific to young patients. The practical difference is usually as much about handling the visit as the treatment itself.
When do children start losing baby teeth?
Usually from around age six, continuing until roughly age twelve, though the timing varies widely between children. Adult molars also come through at the back around age six without any baby tooth falling out first.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

Dr. Mona is always great with my kids. She makes them feel comfortable and they look forward to their dentist appointments. She remembers their interests and talks them through each procedure with stories to help them remain relaxed and not worry about what a filling actually entails. She is clever, professional and kind. If you are looking for a good dentist, she is the one!

My six-year-old son Sevenn has been a patient at this dental office for several years, and our experiences have consistently been positive. The entire staff is welcoming, supportive, and attentive to both children and parents. During our most recent visit at 5:30 a.m., my son needed to have several of his baby teeth extracted. As a parent, I felt emotional and somewhat overwhelmed by how quickly everything was happening. However, Dr. Mona demonstrated exceptional professionalism and compassion throughout the process. She took the time to personally come into the lobby to provide me with updates on my son’s progress, which helped ease my anxiety and made me feel reassured about the procedure. Her calm demeanor, gentle communication style, and genuine kindness toward children truly stood out. Dr. Mona’s warm spirit and ability to connect with young patients create a comforting environment that is especially important in pediatric dental care. I highly recommend this dental office to other parents who are looking for a team that combines clinical expertise with patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills. Thank you again for making what could have been a stressful experience feel safe and positive for both my son and me.
