About Rosas Family Dentistry

Rosas Family Dentistry operates on Bay Area Boulevard in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas. A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training.

Affordable care means the practice sets out to make treatment accessible on a self-pay basis or through a payment arrangement, rather than assuming every patient arrives with comprehensive insurance. It is worth asking directly what options exist before assuming a needed treatment is out of reach.

At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. The practice is reluctant to accept prior dental x rays from other providers and really places a "hard sell" on you for extensive x rays that I had already recently had done with another practice. The whole experience seemed off to me and ultimately they would not clean my teach until I agreed to these very expensive x rays.

Dr. Nan Rosas and her team are in dentistry for all the right reasons! This is rare all over, but especially in the Clear Lake area where Big Money generally reigns supreme. At this dental clinic I have experienced genuine care and concern from a dentist who’s happy to explain procedures to her patients in a way that’s enlightening, not frightening. And here I have encountered no condescension and no shaming about health or finances. If you’re in the market for a new dentist, I cannot recommend this one enough!

I had my wisdom removed in Mexico. Unexpectedly one of my stitches ripped and it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Most, if not all, the dentist in Clearlake that I called dismissed me after telling them about the surgery in a foreign country. Dr. Rosas office could hear the desperation in my voice. Thankfully they took me in as soon as they could. I was relieved. Dr. Patel and his friendly assistant took an X-ray. Explaining what must’ve caused the bleeding. I was in and out. I paid $77 at the front desk (no insurance). Ms. Angie was the nicest to talk with me on the phone and calm me down. I would definitely go next time.

I really enjoyed my experience at this dentist office overall. The staff was friendly and the cleaning itself went smoothly. However, I do have one complaint: they charged me for an oral cancer screening even though I had signed a form declining it. I was surprised to see a $57 copay, especially since my insurance fully covers cleanings. When I asked for an itemized receipt, I saw the charge and they did remove it after I spoke up. Unfortunately, the same thing happened to my boyfriend during his visit — he also declined the screening but was still charged. Just a heads-up to check your billing carefully. It feels a little shady

Our long time dentist unexpectedly passed so we decided to find another female dentist. After a exhausting search for a independent dentist, decided to give Rosas a shot. First clue should have been they do not regularly answer the phone, you have to leave a message for a return call, every time. The dental hygienist doubles as the receptionist. Went in for the initial check up and cleaning. She charged $269 out-of-pocket and $1600 to my insurance. She is very nice, personable, knowledgeable, and has a great sales pitch. She even states if you are only looking for care covered by insurance, she is not the dentist for you. Finally she said she will pass her patients off to her colleague since she wants to concentrate on cosmetic dentistry. Additionally charges include $200 if you miss an appointment and 3.25% charge if you use a credit card. She wants you to set up an account that draws payments directly from you bank account. Snake Oil sales at its finest. Obviously, we did not return. We went back to our original office where the husband took over the practice after the passing of his wife. Should have never left.
