Rusk and Thornton Dental Associates — Farragut Square DC partnership practice.
Smyleee Rating
Very Good
Rusk and Thornton Dental Associates PC is located at Suite 200, 818 18th Street Northwest in Washington DC's 20006 zip code — the same building as Dr. John S. Hunter DDS at Suite 240 (ID 3102) and Rusk Mark S DDS also at Suite 200 (ID 3148). The two-surname practice name "Rusk and Thornton" signals a partnership between two named dentists, and the separate database entry for Rusk Mark S DDS at the same Suite 200 reflects the dual representation of the partnership both as an entity (Rusk and Thornton Dental Associates PC) and as an individual named partner (Mark S. Rusk DDS) at the same address.
Dental partnerships with two-surname names represent the combination of patient bases from two established practitioners who have formalized their professional relationship under a joint corporate identity. The "& Associates" element of the practice name signals additional providers beyond the two named partners, providing scheduling breadth beyond what two dentists alone can offer. Suite 200 on the second floor of 818 18th Street places both the partnership entity and the individual named partner in a mid-rise professional building in the heart of DC's Farragut Square professional district.
General dental care at Rusk and Thornton covers comprehensive oral examinations, professional cleanings, restorative treatments, diagnostic imaging, and management of dental health. The 18th Street NW location serves the dense professional population of the Farragut Square corridor, accessible from the Farragut West and Farragut North Metro stations.
For downtown DC professionals who want a two-named-partner dental associates practice at 818 18th Street NW Suite 200 — in a building that also hosts Dr. Hunter's DDS practice — Rusk and Thornton at this address provides the combined patient capacity of a partnership in the professional heart of Farragut Square.

I just had my first visit as a new patient and it was an amazing experience. The entire team is so kind, and everyone goes above-and-beyond to explain what they’re doing and why. I’ve moved around a lot the last few years and have tried many dentists, the best by far. Thanks all!
It’s ok.
Dr Thornton is an excellent dentist, working carefully and kindly with my elderly father. Three office staff are clear, kind, and welcoming! The referrals to others Dr Thornton works with are also excellent and they work together well too provide comprehensive mouth care!
I’ve spent years looking for a DC dental practice I like and have finally found it. Very attentive care.
I've been coming to this practice for almost 15 years and they are great, proactive, and well run.
I first came to the practice in 2004 when I moved to DC and have stayed with them through two dentists and 22 years. Love the dentist, hygienists and staff.
Best dentist yet! Felt relaxed, listened to, and reduced my dental anxiety. Dr. Van der Linden was exceptional.
Consistently impressed with the quality of care at Thornton Dental. Dr. Van der Linden is great and so are all of the hygienists, front desk staff, etc. Very lucky to see a dentist that is caring, honest, and efficient.
Highly recommend Dr. Thornton's office! They gave me a very thorough cleaning and also measured my gum recession to track it at future appointments, which was something I had never had done before. Additionally, Dr. Thornton helped me repair a veneer and placed a crown when he noticed there was a crack in my natural tooth. He took additional x-rays to triple check that a crown was needed and walked me through the process of what would happen. He was able to repair the tooth that day and was very calming and supportive during the process even though it was not expected. He also called me the next day to check in to see how I was doing after the unexpected procedure. One other thing I noticed is that in their new patient sign-up form, they ask if you've had any prior bad experiences at the dentist and what happened. This was really nice to see considering the dentist can be scary for many people. All this to say that everyone at this office is incredibly kind and intentional with their medical care. I felt very safe and taken care of during this unexpected chaotic process and I'm very happy with my results! Again, highly recommend this office!!
I've been seeing Dr. VanderLinden for about 2 years now and I always recommend his office to my friends. It's a central location, the receptionists are friendly and are great about confirming appointments and changing them when I need to. Most importantly, they give great cleanings and they helped me squeeze in whitenings in the same appointment which saves a lot of time. They also offer extra cleanings at the same rate/cost that they charge insurance. So if you want to do one extra cleaning a year (improve dental health by 50%) it's really affordable
