About Sacramento Natural Dentistry - Citrus Heights

Based on Sunrise Boulevard in Citrus Heights, California, Sacramento Natural Dentistry - Citrus Heights is a dental practice serving the area. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. What is holistic dentistry?
It is an approach that considers oral health in the context of overall health and tends to emphasise material choices and conservative treatment. The underlying clinical standards for diagnosing and treating dental disease remain the same.
Do holistic dentists use fillings without mercury?
Practices describing themselves this way typically favour tooth-coloured composite and ceramic materials over amalgam. If material choice is your reason for choosing a practice, it is worth confirming directly what they use.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

Extremely professional, caring, hard-working and detailed in their dental work. I'm so thankful I went there. The staff is outstanding and there's not enough words to compliment Dr. Azouz. Just go and be blessed. I am adding to the above review. I believed I had an infection in a tooth. Dr. Azouz made sure that was the case and sure enough, there was... the tooth is out, the infection was completely cleaned out and I am typing this the next morning with no significant pain after the procedure. The best part, no pain medication necessary....Dr., Azouz is the best....I have had several poor experiences with dentists over the years, I am completely confident in Dr. Azouz. He really does care about getting his dental work right....no need to ever look for another dentist....what a relief...

A friend recommended Sacramento Natural Dentistry for my children’s wisdom teeth. I was very pleased with their high quality care and expertise and thorough examination. I felt like they truly cared for their best interest and not just to make money on removing their wisdom teeth.

After 13K of work done with Dr. Azouz, and months and months of traveling back and forth from Mt. Shasta, four of the fillings he put in failed within 1 to 5 years, one of them failing twice (the first time I returned to his office and had it replaced, the second time I had a dentist where I live replace it). This doctor has been, hands down, the worst dental experience of my life. He was constantly re-injecting numbing agent because he would make me sit so long in the chair that it would wear off over and over again - often up to three times in one session. I was constantly sick, tremoring and emotional from being over-dosed on numbing agent (some people are highly sensitive, and I informed him from the start that I was one of them). He constantly moved fast, saw multiple patients at once, forgot what he was doing (I had to remind him where he left off when he came back to work on me) and talked fast, (often about how great he was as a dentist) and often did not inform me as to what was going on with a procedure or how to navigate new information/treatment plans (like the Invisalign - I had to go online to understand how to wear them). During one session, he kept my jaw open so long that my jaw was dislocated and I was in so much pain for days afterward that I had to go to a chiropractor in Yreka for two sessions to have my jaw realigned, none of which I was compensated for. I am honestly astounded that this doctor is still working. I am finally writing a review now because I have been seen by two separate local dentists here who have had to replace three fillings Azouz put in back in 2021, and yet another one this evening that he put in is also hurting when I eat. And according to Azouz, the materials he uses are, and I quote, 'top of the line', and "should last a very long time." I have spent so far over $2,500 to have local dentists do replacements (one a crown) Azouz put in. I would strongly advise anyone not to go to Dr. Azouz. Strongly.

I had a dental emergency. I knew I needed care right away. But I knew I needed to go outside the main stream practices to get Holistic care. Even though my situation was a dental emergency. And far worse than I had ever imagined, the process to get me in, get me evaluated, and get me a plan of care was easy and fast. Dr azous was straight forward about the magnitude of my situation, but was gentle and kind as well. The surgery he performed is one I dont think I could have had done elsewhere, especially not with the attention to detail and thoroughness of Dr Azous. I also feel so much relief knowing that he used the most biocompatible ingredients, while also avoiding the graphene oxide and flouride used at most main stream dental practices. As a side note, If you are sensitive to chemicals, heavy metals, or have issues like HEDS, EDS, etc, you may just find that the biological dentist is the only dentist you will ever want or trust again.

I highly recommend Sacramento Natural Dentistry and I wish I would have found out about them sooner. Dr Azouz is very knowledgeable of the care of a person's teeth and he approaches it the wholistic way. Biological dentistry is different than the traditional one. Dr Azouz replaced an old crown I had and he did the perfect job. It feels exactly like one of my teeth. He also fixed some fillings that were not done properly and worked on a tooth that had a little bit of the root exposed and was causing me some sensitivity, now I can brush, and drink cold or hot drinks without fear of feeling pain. Moreover, Dr Azouz pulled out a tooth that had a root canal and will do an implant in its place. This is a work in progress, so I will have to wait to review it. Dr Azouz is very caring, he answers your questions, he lets you know the steps he is taking while he’s working on you so you don’t worry about what’s going on. He cares about what he does, he is a perfectionist and he makes sure the work he does has been done to the highest standard.

I'm extremely thankful to Dr. Azouz and his team for their services. I had a root canal at age 12 from accident and didn't realize until my late twenties (after watching the documentary Root Cause) how the industry standard materials/procedures often lead to so many subtle yet serious health issues down the road... Highly focused and very professional yet down-to-earth, I really like Dr. Azouz. I was stoked he (though understandably cautious) let my girlfriend sit in the room with us when I got my root canal extractions done.. further cementing my confidence in his care and integrity with the practice. I'm very satisfied with the work he's done so far for me and I appreciate that while he's very knowledgeable & oriented towards holistic approaches, he wasn't too proud to suggest I take a short-term dose of antibiotics while my extractions healed up. While prices in this niche sector are steep, I commend him for taking a likely challenging, yet worthy route of more arguably legitimate and wholesome service to people's wellbeing. His team is cool, personable and very easy to communicate with. I appreciated how his phlebotomy technician took the time to answer my girlfriend's questions about plasma. All in all Sacramento Natural Dentistry is top tier, in my opinion.

Dr. Azouz and his dental assistant were outstanding. They were accommodating, thorough, and efficient throughout the entire visit. They fixed a filling that had fallen out and also identified another tooth that needed attention. The procedure was handled quickly and professionally, and I left feeling confident in the quality of the work. Dr Azouz was thorough and ensure my new fillings matched my existing teeth, leaving the work visually unnoticeable. This was my first visit to this office, and based on this experience, it will be my go-to dentist moving forward.

The most incredible dentist experience Ever! What a fantastic team! Dr. Azouz is so sincere and he listens earnestly. He also does an incredible job of taking extra time to explain X-rays and describe his actions during procedures. I hadn't been to the dentist in 8 years and I was so hesitant to actually have anyone look in my mouth (I knew there would be work that needed to be done). But when my husband and I found this practice through the YouTube channel, "Living Well with Dr. Michelle", I decided that it felt safe and I should make an appointment. That was the Best decision ever. Very Natural and Holistic. They go the extra mile. Thank you Dr. Azouz, Amanda, Bryan, Rachelle, Shannon and Jessica. You guys are a beautiful family.
