About Sage Dental Kids of New Tampa

Sage Dental Kids of New Tampa operates on Cross Creek Boulevard in the County Line Coalition area of Tampa, Florida. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Modern digital X-rays use a very low dose and are taken only when there is a clinical reason. They show decay between teeth and problems with developing adult teeth that cannot be seen by looking.
When do children start losing baby teeth?
Usually from around age six, continuing until roughly age twelve, though the timing varies widely between children. Adult molars also come through at the back around age six without any baby tooth falling out first.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

Do not book the first appointment at 8:30a. Doors aren't open (staff unlocked doors at 8:33 while I was standing outside, waiting on hold with office staff) and hygienists are walking back and forth from one end of the treatment area to the other - clearly not ready for the day. A hygienist standing at the desk on her cell phone when we were finallylet in......all while we stood outside past 8:30a. There is a sign that states the patients are required to give 48 hour notice for cancellation, however the patients are not given the same respect with the office being ready at a scheduled appointment time. Disappointing the expected courtesy is not reciprocated.

My daughter is 5 years old. She was scared and my husband did his best to calm her down. She was ready to get her cleaning and they wouldn't let her. They made us book another appointment 1 month out after we rushed our kids there when they asked us to come 35 minutes prior to our original booking time. This can't be the first time this has happened, where is the understanding and the patience when it comes to younger kids. My daughter was ready at our original appointment time.

We had an incredible experience here, from start to finish! I called expecting to book an appointment a few weeks out, but they were able to see my son the same morning. The front office is very helpful and courteous. During the appointment, the hygienist was awesome and made my toddler very comfortable. After getting his cleaning and a check-up from the dentist, sitting up in the chair, my boy said “Too fun!”. For his first dentist appointment in the area, I couldn’t have imagined a better experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Today was our first visit at Sage Dental with Dr. Stepanski. Everything from scheduling to check-in was seamless. The girls at the front desk were very friendly, which is something we unfortunately did not get at our previous dentist. The dental assistants were great with my kids (Rachel, and I didn’t catch the other gentleman’s name!). Dr. Stepanski was great as well and very informative. As we left, my daughter said “that was so much fun!”. I highly recommend this office for your kiddos!

Today we had a great experience Dr. Greg and his staff were really nice. My daughter who is 5 was very nervous about going to the dentist this morning but when we left she was very happy and that was the best time she ever had. I don’t remember the dentist hygienist‘s name, but she really made the experience great and brought both my daughters two little alligator things with toothbrushes to keep them occupied while they waited. I never ever leave Google reviews, but today was definitely worth leaving one just because it really made my day to hear my daughter actually excited about going back again so thank you!

Today was first appointment at this location. Rachel was simply amazing! She had so much patience for my little guy that was full of the wiggles. Everything was done at his pace and explained to him and myself so we understood every step of the way. This is definitely the new dentist office for my little guy.
