About San Francisco Surgical Arts

San Francisco Surgical Arts provides dental care on Main Street in the Rincon Hill area of San Francisco, California. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Get in touch through it to ask questions or book a visit.

Do wisdom teeth always need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that come through cleanly, in a good position, and can be kept clean are often left alone. Removal is generally advised when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

I recently had four wisdom teeth extracted at this facility by Dr Lee and his team, and they did an incredible job! The whole process from the initial consultation to the actual surgery was super smooth, and the prices are very fair for the level of service you receive and the quality of their high tech improvement. I was a bit nervous heading into the surgery, but the team is great at making you feel calm and relaxed. They asked me what music I wanted to listen to, put a blanket on me, and before I knew it I woke up from the sedation and my wisdom teeth were gone! Recovery also went better than expected, which may be a testament to their excellent post-care procedures. Would highly recommend this facility for oral surgery!

I came here to have a lower lip mucocele removed. Ive got to say, this has been one of the most comfortable and painless procedures I have had done! Dr.Lee and everyone else that interacted with me were very kind and responded to any questions I had with care and compassion. If I ever need a similar procedure done again, I will return to SF Surgical Arts again!

I had a tooth extraction and implant placement with Dr. Massoomi, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Because it was one of my front teeth, it was important to me that everything be handled as smoothly as possible. Dr. Massoomi was able to place the implant the same day the tooth was removed, which made a huge difference. My recovery was surprisingly easy, with very little discomfort and no complications. Not only is the new implant a much better long-term solution, but the tooth that was removed had an ongoing infection, and I’ve felt noticeably better overall since the procedure. I’m extremely grateful for Dr. Massoomi’s skill and care. If I ever need a similar procedure in the future, I wouldn’t hesitate to return to his practice.

Dr Lee and the team ensured a really great experience! Had a couple wisdom teeth extracted recently and the whole process was painless (both the procedure and the insurance process)

The team at San Francisco Surgical Arts is incredibly professional and made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Lee explained the process thoroughly, and the surgery itself went exactly as planned. The recovery period was practically non existent which I credit to the care and precision of their work. If you are looking for a skilled oral surgeon in the city, I highly recommend Dr. Lee and his staff!

Last month, I visited Dr. Matthew Stephens to have my wisdom tooth extracted. He is highly skilled, knowledgeable, professional, meticulous and empathetic. The entire procedure—including anesthesia, extraction and stitching—took only eight minutes. It was a seamless and relatively comfortable experience. Dr. Stephens called and spoke with my husband the evening of the procedure to check in, and he conducted a wound check a week later. I would highly recommend Dr. Stephens to anyone in need of a tooth extraction. My overall experience at SF Surgical Arts was excellent. The front desk staff, Tifanie and JiMi, were very helpful and friendly. The dental surgical assistant, Katie, was understanding and gentle. Stephanie was especially caring—she took the time to thoroughly explain the post-surgery care instructions, and my wound healed very well. Their office is located in a nice, safe and convenient area of San Francisco. It is also clean and the staff maintain a high level of hygiene. I truly appreciate the care I received at SF Surgical Arts. Keep up the great work!

Everyone here was so, so nice and helpful. The doctor recorded instructions on my phone for my husband and he really went above and beyond as far as medical advice and keeping us informed. I can’t recommend this practice enough.
