About San Marco Dentistry
San Marco Dentistry is located on Hendricks Avenue in the San Marco area of Jacksonville, a riverside neighborhood known for its historic square and walkable streets. The practice is grounded in general dentistry, providing cleanings, exams, and the preventive care that keeps teeth and gums healthy over the years, and it offers emergency dentistry so patients have a familiar place to turn when a tooth breaks or a sudden ache disrupts the day. Tooth decay treatment addresses cavities before they progress, supporting the office's preventive focus.
The practice carries useful breadth beyond routine care. Gum disease treatment helps patients manage the inflammation and infection that can threaten the foundation of their teeth, while dental implants offer a stable, natural-feeling replacement for teeth lost to decay, gum disease, or injury. Crowns and bridges restore damaged or missing teeth, rounding out the restorative side of the office.
San Marco Dentistry also addresses concerns that reach beyond the teeth themselves. TMJ and TMD treatment helps patients struggling with jaw pain and dysfunction, and bruxism care offers solutions for those who grind or clench their teeth, often protecting against the wear and discomfort that habit can cause. Oral cancer screening adds an important preventive layer to the regular exam.
On the cosmetic side, professional whitening and veneers give patients ways to brighten and reshape their smile, lifting staining and correcting chips, gaps, or discoloration. This combination makes San Marco Dentistry a well-rounded dental home for the neighborhood. A patient can rely on the office for routine cleanings and decay treatment, turn to it for gum care or jaw-pain relief, and trust the same team with implants or a cosmetic refresh. With affordable care noted among its offerings, the practice gives San Marco residents a single, capable place to handle the everyday and the more involved sides of their dental health over time. For the San Marco neighborhood, the practice's reach into gum care, jaw and grinding concerns, and decay prevention, alongside the cosmetic and restorative basics, gives residents a well-equipped local option for keeping small problems from quietly becoming large ones.
In Jacksonville's San Marco area on Hendricks Avenue, San Marco Dentistry offers general dentistry with cosmetic veneers and whitening, plus dental implants, gum disease treatment, TMJ care, and bruxism and tooth decay treatment for a well-rounded range of needs.

Great place!
Just visited for the first time and was super pleased. I made the switch to San Marco Dentistry because my long-time previous dentist retired.
Very nice people. Have gone to their office for very long time.
Best dentist I have ever had. They just do everything well and don't try to up sell a bunch of stuff you don't need like some places. Truly a class act place.
San Marco Dentistry is a refreshing reminder of what healthcare *should* feel like—personal, thoughtful, and genuinely patient-centered. Dr. Howard, along with dental hygienists Margaret and Julie, exemplify a level of care that is becoming increasingly rare. In a time when so much of healthcare feels rushed, transactional, and impersonal, this team stands out for doing the opposite. From the moment you walk in, you are treated not as a number or a time slot, but as an individual with unique needs, concerns, and goals. Dr. Howard takes the time to explain findings and treatment options in a clear, respectful, and collaborative way. There is no sense of being hurried along—only a focus on making sure you feel informed and comfortable with your care. Margaret and Julie are equally exceptional. Their attention to detail, gentle technique, and genuine warmth make what can often be an uncomfortable experience feel easy and even enjoyable. They remember personal details, follow up thoughtfully, and consistently go above and beyond to ensure patient comfort. What truly sets San Marco Dentistry apart is their commitment to comprehensive, individualized care. They don’t just treat teeth—they treat people. Preventative strategies, long-term planning, and patient education are all integrated seamlessly into each visit, creating a level of care that feels both thorough and deeply personalized. In an era where the human touch in healthcare can feel like it’s fading, San Marco Dentistry is doing something special. Dr. Howard, Margaret, and Julie have built a practice rooted in trust, attentiveness, and genuine connection—and it shows in every interaction. Highly recommend to anyone looking for not just excellent dental care, but a truly exceptional patient experience.
Just went to this dental practice as I thought I had a cavity as my tooth was hurting when I ate. They took 2 xrays on that side and dentist came in to examine my teeth. He said everything looked good. Xrays didnt show anything and neither did exam. Said no cavities so couldn’t find a problem. I asked if he was going to do the cold water squirt on teeth to see if that showed anything, since eating cold food caused the pain, and to my surprise he said no it wasn’t needed. I get normal xrays covered by my insurance (panoramic and bitewing) 1x a year and teeth cleanings 2x a year faithfully. I switched insurance companies this year so had to find a new dentist in the network. Thus how I ended up at this practice. Before arriving, they received my xrays and records from my previous dentist I had done less than a year prior. So I said I would like to schedule my teeth cleanings and was told before that could be done, they needed to get FMX xrays….which was not covered by my insurance….just to get a cleaning. What a rip off! I called around to other dental practices in my network and asked if they required these FMX xrays for a cleaning and was told no. An internet search said this : Typically, you do not need a new Full Mouth Series (FMX) if you had bitewing and panoramic X-rays within the last year, as FMX is generally recommended only every 3–5 years. If you are seeing a new dentist, they can usually accept transferred records from your previous office. So, needless to say, I will NOT be returning back to this practice as I think they are doing unnecessary xrays, that are potentially harmful. The dentist I saw and his assistant were very polite, kind and professional, so it’s sad this practice wants to get money from their patients (me being a senior on fixed ss income with limited funds), with services not needed or covered by insurance just to get a cleaning!
First visit and had the best dental cleaning I’ve ever had. Been seen by different dentists in my 15 years here in Jax . So far this is the best. Charlene really spent time with me and I can say she is the best dental hygienist I’ve had.
As very impatient person and being nervous, San Marco Dentistry were amazing group of people. From the welcome to departure I felt welcomed and appreciated. Very professional staff and Dr. was outstanding. Explained everything in terms that i can understand. Recommend to everyone!!!! Will certainly go back.
