Sand Lake Dental

I've been a patient of Dr. Maali for several years. I initially chose his office because of the excellent reviews, recommendations, and articles highlighting his work. Dr. Maali can be very personable and knowledgeable, and I don't question that he has experience. However, over time I realized I was looking for something different: a dentist who takes a more conservative approach and prioritizes patient's care over recommending additional procedures. One thing that disappointed me was feeling pressured to schedule dental cleanings more often than I personally believe I need. I take excellent care of my teeth with daily flossing, a Waterpik, both an electric and manual toothbrush, occasional oil pulling, and a remineralizing toothpaste. I've consistently been told that my teeth are very clean. In my experience with dentists in Europe, I was never advised to have cleanings this frequently if my oral hygiene was already excellent. I do pretty much the same cleanings at home, but not for the fee they charge. At one point, I was also referred elsewhere for a root canal evaluation. After seeking another opinion, I was told that I did not need a root canal. I also felt that cosmetic procedures, such as veneers, were brought up more than once. While I understand these services are appropriate for many patients, they weren't something I was seeking. Another disappointment was that when I asked detailed questions about my dental health, the answers often felt brief or vague, and I sometimes got the impression that the conversation was being rushed rather than focused on educating me. Because I work in the Dr. Phillips area, I previously referred several clients to this practice. Unfortunately, based on my overall experience, I no longer feel comfortable recommending it. It is simply my personal experience. If you're looking for a practice with a conservative, patient-focused approach that emphasizes education and only recommends treatment when truly necessary, your experience here may differ from what you're looking for.

For anyone looking for a dentist, I really recommend this dental office. Everyone from the front desk to the doctor were very friendly and helpful. Helena was my hygienist, she was very kind, explained everything very clearly, and made my experience at the office very easy. Dr. Maali was also very kind and made me feel at ease when he came in to do my exam. Doctor was very thorough throughout my exam and he made it easy for me to understand what was going on, as well as what I needed to get done and why. He answered every question I had and made sure to explain in a way that I could understand. Everyone made this experience so easy and welcoming,

2026: Dr. Maali is GREAT, but the office staff really leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to follow through.

While on vacation my husband had a dental emergency and needed a crown. We called this morning got an appointment for 1:30 and had the treatment completed with a crown by 4:00pm. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with this emergency. This is a clean office, friendly front to back team and Dr Williams did a great job! Thank you Sand Lake Dental for saving our vacation plans.

Always a great experience. Excellent customer service and affordable pricing. Nothing against my last dentist but I've just returned to the area after 4 years and it's great to be back at Sand Lake Dental.

The best dentist I’ve ever had. Front desk and assistants are excellent! They meet you at the exact time of appointment. First the assistant presents all personnel: Gilda, Marien, Lu, Mercedes, Peggy…, . Dr Duque was awesome! She is delicate and I didn’t feel any pain at all. My husband and daughter are patients.
