About Saw Mill Dental of Yonkers

Suite 306 at 970 North Broadway in northwest Yonkers holds a practice with an unusually broad bench for its size. Seven providers work here, including a periodontist, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a pediatric dentist alongside the general dentists, with Robert H. Friedman, DMD, as clinical director. The practical effect is that a family can bring a toddler, a teenager in braces and a grandparent facing implant work into the same waiting room, and the specialist referrals happen down the corridor rather than across the county.

Implant and gum work is where those in-house specialists earn their place. A periodontist treats the foundation problem first, meaning bone loss and inflamed pockets around the remaining teeth, because placing an implant into an actively diseased mouth invites the same tissue breakdown that took out the original tooth. Once the gums are stable, the surgeon places the fixture and a restorative dentist builds the crown or the denture that clips onto it. Sedation dentistry is available for patients who cannot sit through that sequence comfortably while fully awake.

At the other end of the age range, the practice sees children from around age one, which follows the standard guidance that a first dental visit should happen when the first teeth arrive rather than at school age. Early appointments are largely about mapping risk, covering diet, fluoride and how the bite is developing, not about treatment. Braces, Invisalign, root canals, extractions, veneers, whitening and dentures round out the list, and emergencies are seen. Sleep apnea appliances are offered as well; these work by holding the lower jaw slightly forward overnight so the airway behind the tongue stays open, and they suit mild to moderate cases or people who cannot tolerate a CPAP mask.

On money, the office states that it accepts most insurance including Medicare Advantage plans, and offers CareCredit financing plus its own Smile Alliance Club discount plan for people without coverage. Verify your specific policy before treatment starts, because accepting a plan and being in-network with that plan are different arrangements that produce very different out-of-pocket totals. Hours are weekday daytime with a Saturday morning clinic, which works well for school-age families and less well if you need evening appointments after a commute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my whole family really be seen at this one office?
That is how it is built. The practice lists seven providers including a pediatric dentist, a periodontist and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon alongside general dentists, and it sees children from around age one as well as adults. In practice that means a child's checkup, an adult's gum treatment and a grandparent's implant case can be coordinated in one place instead of across three separate referrals.
Why treat gum disease before placing an implant?
An implant is anchored by bone, and the bacteria that destroy bone around natural teeth will do the same around a fixture. Placing one into an inflamed, unstable mouth risks losing it to the very process that caused the original tooth loss. Treating the periodontal condition first, by cleaning the root surfaces, reducing pocket depths and establishing a home routine that reaches the gumline, makes the foundation predictable before anything goes in.
What payment options does the practice list?
The office states that it accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare Advantage, and offers CareCredit financing along with its own Smile Alliance Club discount plan for patients without coverage. Confirm your specific policy before treatment begins, since accepting a plan and being in-network with it are different arrangements with very different out-of-pocket consequences. Ask for a written estimate with your coverage already applied.

I had cavities filled in January 2026 and paid what I was told was the DENTEMAX rate. Then I got a bill for $1500! I've requested an itemized bill for months but the staff and office manager Winnie ignore my emails and phone calls. SAW MILL DENTAL engaged in BILLING FRAUD by OVERCHARGING, not complying with DenteMax rates, and sending vague invoices and unitemized bills! When they threatened me with collections in June, I cancelled my 6 month cleaning. Then Winnie finally emailed me back and said she would adjust my balance when I came in for my cleaning. I did not go back for my cleaning because the office still has not provided me with a "good faith estimate" of the cost, which I requested multiple times. I will never get future services there without documentation of a "good faith estimate." The only reason I would go back there at all is because Dr. Koh is an excellent dentist.

Attentive and professional staff. Thanks to Winnie at the front desk for her caring, support and understanding to my needs. She made me feel comfortable and I was not pressured in my decision making. Thanks also to Dr. Yong for being generous, considerate and understanding regarding my personal issues (health) and taking his time to ease up my worries/concerns. Thanks also to his assistance for her kindness and professionalism explaining everything as it went along and providing support.

I can't say enough good things about the professional and welcoming treatment I always receive at this office. Yesterday's visit was especially great thanks to Mary, the dental hygienist. She was so thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely compassionate. She answered all my questions and made me feel completely at ease. She's a wonderful asset to Saw Mill Dental and to everyone she treats!

If you’ve been putting off the dentist, this is your sign to finally book that appointment! After neglecting my dental health for years to focus on life and family, I was incredibly nervous to walk through the door—but the team here changed everything. From the moment I arrived, I was met with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The manager went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable, and the front desk staff made scheduling my future visits a total breeze. Most importantly, the doctors were incredibly gentle and understanding of my needs, never once making me feel judged or uncomfortable. I’m so glad I faced my fear and chose this practice. If you’re looking for a supportive, judgment-free team that truly puts patients first, look no further. Five stars isn't enough!

Everyone at the office is friendly and kind. I don't remember his name, but the gentleman that cleaned my teeth was great! He was gentle and thorough. My dentist was so pleasant, I didn't wait at all once I arrived at the office. I barely had sat down when my name was being called. Having a TV in the room is a great distraction too! I highly recommend this practice.

I had an excellent experience at this dental office and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking professional and reliable care. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, efficient, and attentive, creating a comfortable and well-organized environment. Dr. Koh stands out as an exceptional dentist—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and genuinely caring. He took the time to thoroughly explain my condition and treatment options, ensuring I felt informed and confident every step of the way. His precision and professionalism were evident throughout the entire procedure, and I truly appreciated his gentle approach. The office itself is clean, modern, and equipped with up-to-date technology, which further enhances the quality of care provided. Scheduling was smooth, and wait times were minimal, reflecting the team’s respect for patients’ time.
