About Seneca Family Dentistry
Seneca Family Dentistry provides dental care on South Seneca Street in the Southwest Wichita area of Wichita, Kansas. A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training.
Affordable care means the practice sets out to make treatment accessible on a self-pay basis or through a payment arrangement, rather than assuming every patient arrives with comprehensive insurance. It is worth asking directly what options exist before assuming a needed treatment is out of reach.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. My mom has Alzheimer's/Dementia and I took her in for a cleaning this morning. Desiree was a rock star. She was patient, kind, caring, compassionate and overall very good with my mom. Dr. Baker has been our dentist forever and he is amazing. Thank you Desiree and Dr. Baker for your exceptional care today in meeting the needs for my mom.
As someone who needs a lot of dental work done at a younger age I recommend this place! Staff are nice and I am remembered by name! The dog (I don’t know her name) is super cute and sweet! They don’t make me feel embarrassed about the condition of my teeth and show compassion when working with me. Do to years of neglect from not having insurance my first visit I had an infection, I was proscribed antibiotics and a steroid. I had 3 teeth extracted by Dr. Baker, I recovered quickly. He made sure I was okay after the extraction and the office called to see how I was doing 3 days after the procedure. Dr. Baker suggested I get a full denture in the top (which I was expecting) and after I heal start working on saving my bottom teeth.
Would not recommend this clinic. They did not listen to my concerns they told me they was sending an antibiotic due to having an infection and sent us home without treatment. When I called back they stated they was not sending an antibiotic. I was referred to a specialist with a long waitlist, and when we finally got in, they couldn’t see us because the referral was never sent—despite multiple requests. This caused delays in care and my condition worsened. Poor communication and lack of urgency. Look elsewhere.
I love the people here! This is the best dentist I've ever had in 37 years. They are happy and welcoming and I've had a fillings and never any discomfort, even with the numbing shot. Wonderful, clean place to get teeth work. Thank you all for being so wonderful 😊❤️
I've been coming here for a couple years for cleanings and just had some fillings today. I get anxious with dental stuff but I have had nothing short of positive experiences here. The dog is so cute and everyone has been so friendly and helpful.
Wife called said I needed an extraction and Dr.Whitlow has already retired.Dr.Wellman was absolutely admirable in his work skills.I am so relieved to have found a new dentist.
Had a great experience getting my teeth cleaned with Ms. Haneen, she was super kind and empathetic towards my anxiety with dental exams. Made me feel very comfortable.
Went here recently to fix a chipped tooth. Price was very affordable. I walked in and was seen almost immediately and taken care of. Staff was super friendly and professional. Dr Phipps was awesome and made sure my teeth looked the best possible prior to my very important interview. I prefer this place as my new dentist now, you should too!
Seneca Family Dentistry is an excellent choice if you're looking to switch dentists. They are so friendly and accommodating and the wait times for me have been only a couple of minutes. Dr. Taylor Phipps is my dentist and she is always very professional. They make sure you're as comfortable as possible and even have TV's in the rooms for entertainment during a longer procedure. I'm so glad I chose them and would recommend them to anyone.
