Had my first check up here today as a new patient – it was excellent. Quick but thorough, didn't talk at me but instead asked questions, invited me to look at the x-rays and what that meant for my future dental health. That's how it's done. Big thank you to Emily Chong.
At least it was clean and I did end up with an appointment. Explained my issues, didn't even get a response. Felt more like they were trying to damage my teeth than anything. Very disappointing experience for a nervous patient.
My first time here very nice staff i was made at ease which was nice
Had my first appointment this week. Maddie was really friendly and put me at ease. Was able to explain everything so I understood. Would recommend 100%
If you are nervous please don’t wait for years like I did! From my very first appointments maddie was amazing! She made me feel calm and talked me through every single step of any procedure I had done, I’ve always had a dental phobia and now I can honestly say I look forward to going! My teeth are now beautiful and for the first time in years I can’t stop smiling and it’s all thanks to maddie and the team at Sharrow dental.
I am 78 years old. Dr Kulvir Guram drilled out my mercury amalgam filling without safety precautions. Within hours I developed dizziness, heart palpitations, severe cognitive impairment, word finding issues, vision problems, and insomnia. These symptoms have not gone away since the procedure. I was a high-functioning 78-year-old before this procedure, going on independent 5-hour mountain hikes weekly. I visited to ask Dr Guram about having a cracked amalgam filling removed. Without mentioning any risks, without explaining that amalgam is approximately 50% mercury, and without offering me protection, he drilled it out. No rubber dam was placed to prevent me from inhaling, swallowing, and absorbing mercury particles. No cold water irrigation was used to reduce vaporization during drilling. I didn't even receive a glass of cold water to rinse after the procedure. No alternative air supply was provided. I was not informed that a safety protocol exists for this procedure. I was not offered a protected removal. I had asked whether they work with the NHS, but he didn't inform me that unprotected removal carries serious risks, or that a safe removal procedure exists. If I had known the risks, I would have obviously preferred to pay for a safe procedure than to have my health and life wrecked. He said that pieces of amalgam from the cracked filling had already been swallowed and would likely be excreted through stool. But swallowed pieces of solid amalgam are far less dangerous than what happens during drilling. The heat generated by the drill vaporizes the mercury, which is then inhaled into the lungs and absorbed into the bloodstream within minutes. Solid pieces pass through the gut with minimal absorption. Mercury vapor crosses the blood-brain barrier. I had to go to A&E twice in the days that followed. Published research documents that unprotected amalgam removal causes a significant spike in plasma mercury within 48 hours. Mercury vapor, once inhaled, deposits in the brain, heart, and kidneys, causing neurologic and systemic symptoms. These risks are well established in peer-reviewed literature. I wish I had been warned about the tragic life-changing risks. I would avoid this doctor.
Had an emergency appointment and was seen by a dentist called Max, after 2 previous very rushed and poor appointments at different surgeries, max was like a breath of fresh air although he had very limited time on a weekend and clearly was going to run well over the close time. He gave me a fantastic service and treatment. I could not recommend him more highly. Thanks to Max and his team!
I was a NHS emergency today and was seen by Anthony and the team whilst in a lot of pain. The treatment and tooth extraction was totally professional- great sense of humour and minimal pain. Finally I can enjoy Xmas and thanks to everyone including the receptionist and the dental nurse (sorry I do not know your names) for being available to both myself and everyone else in the surgery by working today - Great team and great service - but I hope not to see you again in the future😀
