About Shawlands Dental Care

Based on Pollokshaws Road in the Shawlands area of Glasgow, Scotland, Shawlands Dental Care is a dental practice serving the area. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.

Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into alignment, handling complex bite corrections and significant crowding more predictably than removable alternatives. Treatment commonly runs one to three years, with a retainer worn afterward to hold the result.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.

Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in. Best dentist in glasgow! Since moving to glasgow and choosing this dentistry ive had such good care. Nikki is an amazing dentist who made me feel at ease and calm through my root canal which i was super nervous about. She was able to spot things for me to either get checked out or give suggestions about how to better take care of my teeth which was lovely to hear. Highly recommend ✨️

I had my first experience 2 weeks ago with Neil Cambell. He and his nurse were excellent. Would highly recommend. I had an extraction without sedation for the first time in over 10 years. Unfortunately need to go back Friday as I have small bit of tooth remaining. Would highly recommend.

I wanted to register as an NHS patient with this dentist as I am entitled to free NHS dentistry. Their website says they're happy to take new NHS patients and when I emailed about registering on the NHS, they said they'd be happy to take me as an NHS patient. There was no way to book an appointment without paying the full cost upfront (£70). I had to email two times again before they explained that I would have to pay the full cost of the appointment when I book it, and they said they would refund me afterwards. I am under 26 and supporting myself on minimum wage. A policy of forcing me to loan them the cost of treatment, without even a clear explanation of how or when I would have my money returned seems to violate the principle of free public healthcare. It also feels a little bit predatory.

Hi, I just wanted to say a big thank you for the emergency appointment yesterday. The care and professionalism were truly outstanding, and the dentist was incredibly kind, reassuring, and skilled throughout the whole process. It made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. I really appreciate the excellent service!

Highly recommend Dr. Ayeza Tariq. I went in for a crown, and Ayeza repaired a filling I had received from an emergency dentist, saving what was left of my tooth. Her prep work was excellent. She then had the crown made and fitted to a gold standard and took good care of the rest of my teeth. Dr Ayeza was personable, honest, and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout my multiple visits. She gently reassured me and explained everything clearly, which made the experience much more comfortable. Thank you!
